Okay, when I switch from program to program - more specifically, from a game to another window - there's EXTREME lag! Does anyone have any suggestions on how to fix this? I don't have any viruses, I've checked with pandascan and kaspersky.

This began happening after I recovered (back to factory condition) my computer. I don't know what's going on.

This'll sound incredibly patronising for which I apologise as it was not my intention but I can't find a better way to phrase it.

Games take up lots and lots of memory. When you switch out of a heavy game, everything that Windows had previously has to be reloaded from the drive as the game has pushed it all out. This doesn't happen with Windows programs because they all have the common Windows elements shared between them. The heavier the game is on the system, the more likely its not going to like being swapped out and back, in fact most games aren't designed to do this anyway.

If this is your CPU speed you are below the minimum requirements to run Vista.
While the minimum is 800 MHz, the lowest recommended is over 1 GHz.
This will cause lag time for any action.
I also note that you use a Of of video software. Video takes a lot of processor resources.
I also see that you use utorrent, if you are streaming video it will take up a lot of resources.

No, not necessarily. I think you've missed the point Neil was trying to make.

To the OP, I have a nice gaming computer (very fast ) and even I experience this as you have described it. I avoid doing this now, just when I was testing it out. Generally you should save your game and quit before returning to Windows for other uses, especially if hfcg is right and your computer does run at that speed.

Also, there is an update available for Java, you should get it as it's more secure. Not that this will help your problem, just something I noticed.

I know now that I guess I can't help it. It's strange that this happened after I recovered the computer, but it's alright - I guess. =P

I don't suppose there's a way to "upgrade" my CPU, is there? Or would "overclocking" do that, maybe?

Also, I updated my Java. ^^

I feel like I've been conned.. :/ This computer costed A LOT and they told me it was the best for gaming! I bought it only a month ago! This is ridiculous..

Unfortunately sales people will say what they can to get you to purchase.

A HP notebook computer is not the best for gaming, period. Not only that, but the specifications don't seem all that great, either. Upgrading on a notebook computer is a rather difficult exercise, unfortunately. It wouldn't be worth the hassle in my opinion, not for the price you would pay.

So your initial problem was the lag when changing from a game back to Windows, now you're just unhappy with the gaming performance of it in general? What games are you playing? Are you using the latest drivers?

I'm glad you updated your Java, though.

I kind of figured that.. he had seemed so nice, though.

Yes, there's lagging within the game and I'm certain that it can't be my internet connection. Sometimes they'll crash, too.. or even make my sound error! (The little volume control icon at the bottom right shows a smaller red icon and all noises are this annoying beep until I restart!)

The most problems I've been having is with a game called Trickster Online. It worked perfectly fine before I recovered my computer (factory state).

The other games I have been having trouble with are Nostale, Grand Chase, CabalOnline, Dream of Mirror Online, and Sims 2 was extremely laggy as well.

Currently I only have nostale on my computer. It seems to be the only thing that will run decently.

I'm so confused!! >.<

The computer was FINE before I recovered it. Why do I get a lag when switching from a game to another application? I don't see any spikes in CPU.. anything..

This is really making me sad..

Also, only the CPU changed.. but I don't see how that is possible? I am so confused..

I checked again and now it's : 1978.8 MHz

When I copied it to clipboard it changed to : 799.9 MHz

Do you think the cpu is messed up or something?

Also, now it's lagging when switching from ANY game to another application. :/
(and it lags when switching to 'handwriting' (allows you to DRAW messages) in MSN..so it's not only game-related..)

Games use a lot of resource ( PS , power for video card, CPU and Ram ) which laptops aren't good for . Also laptops get very hot compare with PC

I have been told that already.

The same laptop is acting up (as you can see in my topic a topic away) even more. All of this to fix this problem. (which no one really helped me with, haha.)
