I have tried to open the Malware Removal forum on this site under the security section several times and it closes my web browser. I do not know how to run hijack this or I would have posted the report. Additionally, my PC is currently running 42 processes. I am certain some of these processes are not needed. Any help to correct these problems would be very helpful. This post has been edited by patton2006: May 13 2008, 09:47 PM |

Thanks. I don't know if this will help. It looks like a sample description.
# Copyright © 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp. # # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows. # # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name. # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one # space. # # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol. # # For example: # # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host 127.0.0.1 localhost |

The Reason I wanted to know is because the Hosts file will redirect you to pages.
A bit of false hope of fixing it easy. Since you cannot access the malware forums (the browser crashes) I'll ask a staff member to jump into this topic instead. Just be patient and a malware staff will jump in to help you. Regards, Olrik |

Hello,
It sounds like you are infected with some malware. Malware should only be addressed in the malware forum, by the experts there. I suggest you go to the Malware Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post a HiJackThis Log in THAT forum. If you are unable to run and/or post a HJT log, then post that in your initial post in the topic you create in that forum. If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s). I guess I should have read the whole post! This post has been edited by hfcg: May 14 2008, 07:26 AM |
