my start tool bar is gone

OS: xp
I have been running pro tools on my dell lab top. i am using xp with the cor duo processer. i started using the task manger to stop some programs and some how i turned off all of my desk top icons and my start tool bar to....all i have is a screan with a picture when i turn my labtop on. i can still run commands threw my task manger but i can only do so much

OS: winxp
When your laptop first comes up to the picture and no icons, open task manager and run this command: explorer

It should bring your icons and start menu back.
