Firstly, "excuse my french!", english is not my mother language Let me explain the situation : To type and send this e-mail I am physically connected to a router (tele2box, a french system, but that is not the matter). Now, this router has a wireless connection. I have two laptops, one older one (compaq presario) with a Lynksys wireless device, and a newer one (Asus) with an "Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network connection". My one and only problem is that I can use neither internet explorer 7 nor Firefox to surf on the web, but still I am "connected"!!! Of course, I checked on every forum I could find (french or english) if anyone had the same problem as I have and if he could fix it, but although lots of people had similar problems to mine, I did everything that they were advised to do and it did not work on my laptop. Here the details : -I tried first to connect to a wireless public network (unsecured) -> I was "connected" but could not use ie or firefox. -I tried then to connect to my router using a wireless secured connection -> Same result. -I thought I had some problem with my wireless device (Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network connection), and therefore I tried to connect to my router using an ethernet cable -> Same result. At this time I have to tell you that with my older laptop everything is fine with the connection and surfing. As a result, the problem is not with the router. Looking on the internet to fix the problem, I understood that my problem was a very common problem : I had a problem with HTTP,HTTS,FTP etc. Running the ie Diagnostic gives me the same looking results as other people encountering problems : ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Last diagnostic run time: 05/17/08 15:04:24 WinSock Diagnostic WinSock status info Error attmpting to validate the Winsock base providers: 2 error Not all base service provider entries could be found in the winsock catalog. It is still impossible to use internet explorer or firefox ("Internet explorer cannot display the webpage"). Some advised to go back to the version 6 of Internet Explorer, but that won't fix the problem : Firefox is not working either. I also tried : "Start, Run, CMD to open a command prompt: Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ip reset reset.log Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog Reboot the machine." "ipconfig /all" "ipconfig /renew ipconfig /registerdns" "ipconfig /flushdns" Here what I got : Windows IP Configuration Host Name . . . . . . . . . . . . . : conducta-08589c Primary Dns Suffix . . . . . . . . : Node Type . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Unknown IP routing enabled . . . . . . . . : No WINS Proxy enabled . . . . . . . . : No DNS Suffix Search List . . . . . . : tele2 tele2 Ethernet adapter Wireless Network Connection: Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : tele2 Description . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Intel® PRO/Wireless 2200BG Network Connection Physical address . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 00-0E-35-8C-AF-41 Dhcp Enabled . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration enabled . . . . . . . : Yes IP Address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.4 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 DNS Server . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 Lease Obtained . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, May 17, 2008 2:39:11 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Sunday, May 18, 2008 2:39:11 PM Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection : Connection-specific DNS Suffix . : tele2 Description . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Broadcom Netlink <TM> Gigabit Ethernet Physical address . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 00-11-D8-1C-11-A6 Dhcp Enabled . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Yes Autoconfiguration enabled . . . . . . . : Yes IP Address . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.5 Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.255.0 Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : DHCP Server . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 DNS Server . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : 192.168.1.254 Lease Obtained . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Saturday, May 17, 2008 2:39:08 PM Lease Expires . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . : Sunday, May 18, 2008 2:39:08 PM and then "Succesfully flushed the DNS Resolver Cache". The problem coould not be fixed. Do you have any idea how I could fix it ??? Thanks in advance for reading and answering |
