Hello G2Go! Thanks in advance to the malware team for all the help I am sure to recieve!

Well my brother and his friend came to me with a malware problem on their machine, asking me to take care of it.

I'd consider myself somewhat of a nerd, and naturally I have a little experience with malware, trojans, and malware removal.

I installed a few programs on the machine already, HiJackThis, and ERUNT in case I need to get dirty with the registry. I've had a few more ideas on some programs that might work, and I've taken the time to read through the Malware Cleaning Guide before posting this. However, because the system is so incredibly bogged down by the virus, and because my 2 hours of research has shown that those steps do not remove the virus, I decided to skip them in favor of something more direct and quick.

As I said before, I am not afraid to get dirty with the registry. I have experience with it and I do know what I'm doing, at least somewhat. If any experts here could point me in the right direction though, that'd be great.

The next post will contain the HiJackThis log, as I am currently posting from my machine, not the infected one.

Well I read through some older threads pertaining to the same virus. Most of them have a common course of action:
SmitFraud - > ComboFix
Should I do the same?

Hello liermam, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo! Please do the following...


Please download SDFix by Andy Manchesta and save it to your desktop.
Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  1. In Safe Mode, right click the SDFix.zip folder and choose Extract All,
  2. A new folder will be extracted to your %systemdrive%, typically C:\SDFix
  3. Open the extracted folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  4. Type Y to begin the script.
  5. It will remove the Trojan Services then make some repairs to the registry and prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  6. Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  7. Your system will take longer that normal to restart as the fixtool will be running and removing files.
  8. When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished, then press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  9. Finally open the SDFix folder on your desktop and copy and paste the contents of the results file Report.txt along with any other requested logs at the end of these instructions.





NEXT


Please download Deckard's System Scanner (DSS) from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.
  • Close all other windows before proceeding.
  • Double-click on dss.exe and follow the prompts.
  • Please let your firewall allow the scanning/downloading process.
  • When it has finished, dss will open two Notepads main.txt and extra.txt -- please copy (CTRL+A and then CTRL+C) and paste (CTRL+V) the contents of main.txt and extra.txt in your next reply.



Please post the following logs in separate post

1. SDFix
2. Deckard System Scanner (both main.txt and extra.txt)

The system is, I think, completely clean and taken care of. Me and my buddy sent 6 hours working on it yesterday.
