help please, ive gone thru all the threads here on this site in regard to those relevant to the whole winantiviruspro problem. Yet even though ive tried every solution, i am met with the same problems, it wont allow me to run a command. A couple days ago i tried running AVG, when i was in the finish stages of the installation, winantivirus went crazy with pop ups and AVG couldn't install due to an error. Today i tried installing again, but got an error window saying, "Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". After downloading several program seen on this site such as, spy hunter, combo fix, hijackthis, vundo fix, CC something. and what not of that nature was still presented with the same message as with trying to install AVG. In addition i tried typing it the command prompt box thing and got the same exact message. Also ever since this problem has evolved, my sound is gone; by that i mean i cant hear anything through my speakers, headphones, nothing. Any help would be extremely helpful.
Thanks in advance.
Alfred

Hello soopersogood and Welcome to Geeks to Go!

Sorry for the delay in response. We've been quite busy this week. smile.gif

Anyways, we very much would like to help you with your problem but you must post a Hijackthis log first. This will aid us in determining what type of malware infection(s) you may have on your system.

To do so,

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
