The computer powers up, fans come on, DVD drives open and close but my monitor power light just flashes.

There are 4 LED lights on the MB that come on. Next to them it says phase LED.

Any idea what I did wrong?

Did you connect the monitor to the computer?

Can you give us a little more information? I would check that the PSU connectors are all in properly. Is there a power connector that needs to go on the graphics card? Have you plugged it in?

Yes I connect the monitor to the computer.
The graphics card has power. The fan is on.
I have tried to removing the heat sink fan and putting it back on.
Tried removing memory and replacing memory.

Not sure what else to do.


Just noticed that the heat sink next to the fan is kind of loose. Is this a possible cause?

The heatsink next to which fan? No heatsink or fan should be loose at all.

I think it is called the p 35 heat sink

But I am not sure.

I am at a loss as to what to do.

What I did
I put the machine together according to manufacturers instructions. When I power the machine, all lights and fans work, but nothing apears on my monitor.

I removed the memory and tried installing in different slots one stick at time.
I installed my old graphics card.
I removed and reinstalled the MB.
I checked all connections
I said a more than a few cuss words.

I am pretty sure the memory is not the problem. I am also pretty sure the graphics card is not the problem.
The hard drive is blank si I doubt that is an issue.
The only thing left is the MB and the processor. Is there anyway I can test these or do I just return them and hope for the best?

Hi just wondering what is your Motherboard? I'm not sure if its compatible with the memory, even if it may fit.

The motherboard is the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3L, as listed above. (You may have missed it!)

It is compatible, as I put these specs together in another thread.

To Intruder,

I would like for you to follow the instructions located here. This is setting up the computer with the minimum necessary to POST. I would then attempt to swap parts as you have done inside the case, but outside (i.e. read the link). If after following the instructions, you are not able to attain a working computer, I would be tempted to RMA the motherboard.
