Hi, I have a problem trying to install XP on my Vaio notebook. The short version of the story is that the 5-year-old original hard drive failed. I purchased a new one and formatted it (because it was used and obtained on eBay). After formatting, removing the old MBR, and creating a new NTFS partition using GParted, I tried to install XP. However, instead of loading setup, I just got a message saying "CDBOOT: NTLDR is missing". It doesn't even try to go into setup. I've tried several different solutions, but nothing worked. I'm using the original system recovery CD. There is no floppy drive on this computer, and it doesn't support booting from USB. I have an enclosure and a separate computer running XP available. Can anyone help?

EDIT: Nevermind, somehow the problem solved itself...

Thanks for the suggestion, but I've already seen that page before and it didn't help much. I did try to copy the NTLDR and NTDETECT files onto the hard drive from my existing Windows desktop, but that didn't work.
