Even if the tutorial you link to is of your own design, you must display the whole guide here. To link to another site is a violation of our TOU.

You may also want to get permission before using G2G content on your site.

This is probably something most forum participants know how to do, but just in case a Sufferer stumbles in, who is even less clueless than I am, maybe it will be useful to them, as well as show that no matter how clueless we may be, we can probably think of a Guide to Something:

How To Make a Launch Bar Doodleding on Your Windows Desktop Without Additional Software

First, decide which are the programs you use most often, and would like to have on your Launch Bar Doodleding.

Next you must choose a name for your Doodleding. If you can't think of a name right now, just call it Binky. You will be able to change it later if you want to.

Make a new folder on your desktop. (Right click anywhere on the desktop and choose "New," then "Folder" and type "Binky" (or whatever name you like) in the blank.

Now move shortcuts to all your most frequently used items, programs, documents, whatever, into that folder. There are several ways to do this, and you probably already know your favorite way, either doing the right click - "New" - and then "Shortcut," or maybe you would rather look in your start menu, and right click and Send To - Desktop Shortcut, or if you are like me, you will want to open up your file manager and root around in there and do the right-click-send-to-desktop-shortcut dance.

How you do it doesn't matter, but what you want to do is get those shortcuts into Binky.

All that is left is the Magical Part: Right click your Task Manager, choose Toolbars, then "New ToolBar" and a little window will pop up, giving you a choice of every folder on your desktop.

Choose Binky, and Poof! You have now made yourself a little Launch Bar Doodleding!

Right there on your task bar, you will see "Binky" followed by a little double arrow. Click the double arrow and your favorite items will soar up, each one ready to open with one click!

How you will revel in the astonishment of your loved ones when they behold this magnificent fruit of your undeniable Geekhood, and clamor to know the secret!

This is not a tutorial - it's just links to other sites. The purpose of this section is to write actual tutorials on how to accomplish a particular task, not just link to explanations on other sites.

I'm sorry, I kind of thought that, but it wouldn't let me post it in that forum, I kept getting error returned, you do not have permission to post in this forum.
Please remove it, Thank you
How do you get your guide approved? I mean, I have read the How-To, but I had posted the Importing MSN Favorites here, but I can't find it in any of the forums, so I don't know if it was approved or not and it's been 2 weeks. I thought it was a pretty good guide and it was chosen to appear in the monthly Newsletter in PCPitstop for March
You can remove this one as well. Thank you.

As a matter of fact, would you be so kind as to remove all of my posts thus far, as I think I will not be returning to this forum. Thank you so much, Don A.

You have to post your guides here first for approval, then we move them - that's why you're getting the error message. My only point about your most recent post is that it's not a tutorial that you wrote on how to do something. It's links to guides on other sites that other people appear to have written. That's not the purpose of this subforum - why that has offended you enough to keep you from returning is something I don't understand. That particular post doesn't meet our requirements for a tutorial, so it won't get approved. As for the other, the addons link for Firefox that you included doesn't work. Also, since it's a tutorial, there ought to be instructions on how to use IE to import/synchronize your Windows Live Favorites, as not everyone may know how to do that.

They didn't approve mine either, but it is still there and visible, and will be no less helpful to anybody who doesn't know the trick but has always wished they could have a Launch Bar Doodleding without having to install a program, which was why I posted it, after all! smile.gif

Your posts will be just as helpful to people who can really benefit from those links, but might never have found them if you had not posted them here, so why in the world would you want them to be removed?

And If you don't return to the forum, then you will miss out on all the helpful things other people post here every day. Who knows when one of them might contain something that will be just as delightful and useful a revelation to you as the links you posted can be to who knows how many people!

Thanks for the wake up call MoonBloo, I guess I was being a little selfish and I do apologize.

I came back to read your comment and to make some changes (edit) to my MSN Favorites guide, but I am unable to as there is no edit button.

So if an Admin or Mod can insert these changes, I would greatly appreciate it.

then open IE7, click on the Favorites Icon (star) and then click on Import/Synchronize and once it's done they will show up in the left pane, then you can proceed to download from Firefox, this;
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/se...tes&cat=all

Please NOTE: PlainOldFavorites is NOT compatible with the Beta and RC1 versions of Firefox

Thanks again MoonBloo and sari

Don

Adamsappleone...

I moved your topic HERE so you can work on it a bit more. If you will PM me once you have made the desired changes, I'll move it back where it was and take another look at it. thumbsup.gif

Your theme pack tutorial is one that will not likely gain much acceptance here. Third party themes are notorious for replacing Windows core files in order to display properly. This can cause some real issues with Windows update and has, in many cases, prevented service packs from downloading and installing properly. We do not recommend the use of third party themes for this reason.

MoonBloo...

Doodleding???? blink.gif

Let's call a spade a spade here. What you are doing with this tut is creating a toolbar on the taskbar. It's not a bad tutorial, in fact, I have a couple of toolbars on my taskbar and use them constantly. If you can change your terminology so that it doesn't appear to be written for a Winnie the Pooh theme, it would be a good one to have lurking around for others to benefit from.

Give it another shot and I'll give it another look... wink.gif

Ok....that works.

Let's clean it up a little, though.

It would be nice if your tutorial had a short preamble...just a quick blurb that explains what the purpose is and what the outcome will be.

QUOTE
(if you have a lot of favorites like me it will take some time, be patient) once completed, download this from Firefox; https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/se...ites&cat=al

If you were to embed the link in the name (PlainOldFavorites add-on), it would look better and would tell those who read the tut just what they are downloading.

If you'll post me a cleaned up version of this just as you'd like it to appear, I'll approve it and move it. thumbsup.gif
