Need help with USB drive

OS: Windows XP



I'm having trouble with my E drive....I plug in my staples USB disk and This is what is says: The disk in drive E is not formatted...Do you want to formatted it....But I don't cause I have files on it that I need....How do get the files off, and put them on my computer...PLEASE HELP ME...Thank you....

Thumb drives, especially cheap ones, are not an effective way of backing up your data. You can try it in a different PC but most likely your data is gone.
