Sony Vaio Wireless isnt working

OS: Windows XP SP 2 Media center edition.
Well, My sony Vaio laptop Wireless button isnt working properly, when it starts its reading the wireless and is picking up the signals, but after a bit it shuts off and the light on the switch goes off. whats going on
