I've got a computer in the shop running Windows ME. The owner recently tried to have DSL set up, but when they installed a network card in the comp, it crashed. Turns out the PSU had failed. I've put a new PSU in, and have the computer up and running. Now, when it loads it gives an error message "Propelac has caused an error in <unknown>" It gives the same error when trying to load IE or Firefox, except it says "Iexplorer has caused..." or "Firefox has caused..." Does anyone have any idea what's going on? I thought maybe the network card wasn't compatible with WinME, but I've removed the card and it's still gives the error message when starting. She has cancled her dial up account, so I can't test it on that. Her ISP also tried it with a USB wireless, and it gave them the same error, so I'm pretty sure it's not the network adapter itself. Does anyone have any ideas? I'm supposed to get this back to her tomorrow...

I'd bet the network card is defective. Just try another one. Any kind of port, keyboard, network, etc., has a high failure rate due to static and surges.

I've tried removing the network card, and I'm still getting the error at boot up.
