Ok, so long story short, I had some issues running a program (one that I now think was the cause of all my issues) and then firefox stopped working. I did a scan using adaware and McAfee On-Demand Scan (an older version). I used adaware to get rid of the spyware/adware on my computer. Then Windows detected some Trojan Downloaders. I also got rid of those. I ended up having to make firefox work by changing the name, and IE still won't work (not that I really care on that one). I downloaded Avira and did a scan. It found a couple things, but I don't know if it deletes them or not, the only options it gives me at the end of the scan is to end or report and report doesn't seem to do anything. On it's own, Avira keeps finding TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen and telling me it's a trojan. It's supposed to be in C:\Windows\System32\clbdll.dll, but I can't find that directory. No matter what I choose to do with it (quarantine, delete, deny access, etc), it keeps coming back. At anytime, I will have at least one of those messages usually more on my screen. I get the most when I try to open anything. And it sometimes prevents me from opening or running things. I can't use my disc drive at all right now.

So, I did some searching and I found a site that recommended using SDFix. I have tried. WHen the computer is not in safe mode, it says it needs to be, but it at least begins to run. When it's in safe mode, I click on the "RunThis.bat" file and it tries to open up the command prompt but closes down quickly. So now I am desperate, and I need advice. I realize I could reinstall the OS, but well, quite frankly, I download a lot of things, and my external hd is full so I don't really have the room to back up anything. If I wipe it, I will lose about 200 gigs of data, and I'd really rather not, so if you could help, that'd be awesome.

My HijackThis log is as follow:

Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo.. Please do the following...

Please read my post CAREFULLY before proceed with this step. Please download ComboFix by sUBs from HERE or HERE and save it to your Desktop.
For more information regarding this download, please visit this webpage

**Note: In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**
  1. Please, never rename Combofix unless instructed.
  2. Close any open browsers.
  3. Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix.
    -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
    • Please go HERE to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
      -----------------------------------------------------------

    • Close any open browsers.
    • WARNING: Combofix will disconnect your machine from the Internet as soon as it starts
    • Please do not attempt to re-connect your machine back to the Internet until Combofix has completely finished.
    • If there is no internet connection after running Combofix, then restart your computer to restore back your connection.

    -----------------------------------------------------------
  4. Double click on combofix.exe & follow the prompts.
  5. When finished, it will produce a report for you.
  6. Please post the "C:\ComboFix.txt" along with a new HijackThis log for further review.

**Note: DO NOT mouseclick combofix's window while it's running. That may cause it to stall**

Regards

Okay, there's a problem with even that step. I shut down the anti-virus and spyware programs and the browser, but the problem comes when I try to open the .exe file. Whenever I open ANYTHING, a few windows pop up with messages about the TR/Cript.XPACK.Gen and I have to delete or deny access to the thing before the program will open. So, I can't run combofix because I can't keep the virus/trojan/whatever from blocking it. Should I keep AVIRA open just long enough to start ComboFix and then close it? Or should I run it in Safe Mode (that would probably defeat the purpose, huh?). Anyway, thanks for trying to help by the way.

OS: Vista

Okay, so an update. I tried to run ComboFix in Safe Mode. And it started up in administrative mode (it gave me a few messages that it needed administrators privileges or something which, I have no idea how to do in Vista, but then it started running through things anyway. It got all the way to 31 and then I got an error message. I made a screenshot:
[/img]

The file it is talking about is the same one that the TR/Crypt.XPACK.Gen is supposedly in according to AVIRA. I've tried to find manually, through searches, and by just putting the path directly in the WIndows Explorer bar. I can't find it anywhere. It gave me a good few of these messages and then refused to go any farther. I closed it and ran HijackThis again. Here's the log:

Then I restarted to give you the info. On the good side, I haven't gotten a single message from AVIRA about this monstrosity, and I can actually open programs again, and the disc drive is working again. So, does that mean it's gone totally? Or a certain part of it is gone? Is there anything else I should do to be sure? You're amazing btw.
