OS: Windows XP Professional SP2

I got a stop error on my comp about 4 days ago and when i couldn't work around it instead of reinstalling Windows 2k I decided to upgrade it Windows XP. I deleted my partition because I didn't really need anything that I previously had and I wanted a fresh start. Everything works fine except my sound; I've tried an assortment of drivers and can't seem to find the right one. I have all my system info at the ready if you happen to need it; my sound card is a C-Media AC97.
Thanks in advance for your help; sorry in advance for groveling for help on my first post.
ABOPP.

Try putting your sound card into a different PCI slot. That slot may have went bad. Let us know...

I've never heard of putting sound through the TV like that. If you have regular speakers, see if they work. Try a surround system, if you have one. Or even if you have a headset you can try. If they work & the TV doesn't, it would be obvious that the TV does not translate the signal through to its speakers.

If you have onboard sound, and are using a PCI card, you may need to go into BIOS and disable onboard audio and change audio settings to PCI.

P.S. Sorry for earlier response, I think the site posted my response to the wrong topic.

Can you go ahead and post your system specs? The more we know, the better.
