I am a huge fan of CCleaner

It is free, its a small install, always malware free. Ive been using it for temp files, startup items, and registry cleaner for over a year on more than 150 machines, and never had an issue with it. Its very easy to use and has a nice interface. Plus it always prompts to save your registry before making any changes, which is a very good idea, although I have never had to use a backup.

We don't recommend registry cleaners here, they are all mostly junk and wont actually improve your PC

If you do use one, make sure to have a full registry backup before hand. I would recommend installing ERUNT to be on the safe side

I use TweakNow RegCleaner, it is safer than ccleaners registry cleaner, i do not like ccleaner's registry cleaner as it attempted to remove good needed keys, TweakNow RegCleaner only showed registry keys that are safe to remove, i would recommend it, i found it on download.com and it is good.
