Hello,

Recently reformated computer. Installed all the necessary drivers from the Dell website, in the specified order, yet the audio driver is being stubborn. It will not install! I receive the messgae "The audio driver files do not support your computer's hardware".
Under the device manage the MAC has a yellow question mark. The computer will not add the hardware. I remember having this problem last time I reformatted, but cannot remember how i solved it. However, eve then I only managed to get 2 of the 5 speakers working.

I have a Dell Dimension 3000, with Windows XP as my operating system.

I had some cases in which older computers could not install audio drivers downloaded from the manufacturer's site. I solved this by downloading the driver from the chip maker. For this you have to know what device is installed in your computer. Download Everest from the link below. Install and open it. Click on "Multimedia" and then click "pci/pnp audio". The details of the device will show on the right side. Use the details to search for driver. If you need help, post the details here.

Ei I also have the same problem with xssb.

Now, actually, I have already visited a lot of sites dude. And just yesterday, I was able to visit the site that you've provided. I already have the file yesterday. I tried to install it and unfortunately here's the error.

I hope you can help me, because it's already a week now that I was not able to hear my MP3's... hehehe!

The next thing you can try is a manual update as opposed to running the setup.

Extract the files from the link I gave you.

Next cright click your "MY COMPUTER" and select properties.

When this window opens hit the HARDWARE tab at the top, then click the DEVICE MANAGER button.

When the next window pops open you should see either an audio device with a yellow exclamation point, or click the + on "Sound, video and game controllers".

When you do finally find your audio device simply double click it, then click the "driver" tab then "update driver".

Can windows search for the driver.... click NO, click next
Choose to install from a specific location, click next
Then choose the box that says "Include this location in the search" then click "browse" and browse to the folder you extracted making sure you choose the winxp folder in it "a12112d\WinXP".

Now click next and see what happens for you.

Waaaaaaaaaah!

Alright lets take a look at your motherboard.

google "cpuz" and download it. Run it. Tell me your motherboard make and model (I didn't see it on the list above).

Nevermind to the above. Think I see it. One moment.


Download CPUZ anyways and check your BIOS version.

I want you to give this a shot. If this wont install because you have xp, let me know and we will try an xp driver.

This is a different audio driver, but it is supposed to be what your board has...
