Hello!

My computer got some kind of virus or trojan that first installed PCprivacyCleaner and VirusRemover2008 in my computer. I tried to remove them, since then I could use neither yahoo search nor google search, everytime I attempted a search, it redirected me to some unfamiliar websites like mad-search.com, original-search.com, and sometimes lots of pop-ups. I can connect to other websites, like this geekstogo.com without problem.

I've read this http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Google-Sear...ed-t210198.html, but wonder if the code for OTScanIt in that topic can be used for my case. And since the topic was closed I have to open this new topic. Please help!

Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo.. Please don't follow other's people thread as every computer is different.. Doing so (especially with advanced tools such as OTScanIt) may result to unpredictable result to your computer.. Lets do the following..

Please visit below webpage for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. DO NOT select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix (located in C:\combofix.txt) when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Hello Fenzodahl512,

Things are much better after I ran ComboFix. I don't see pop-ups or search redirection any more. However, I don't know if it is all fixed; it feels good to have my computer working finely again.
Here is the log by HijackThis and the attached is the result from ComboFix. Oh, it did not ask me to install Recovery Console, I just let it run until the program generated the report.
Please advise what I should do next.

Hi Fendozahl512,

I've run ComboFix in normal mode first but the computer released an error message that required a hard restart (physical error in hard drive, or something like that) when ComboFix rebooted the computer. So I ran it again in Safe Mod, and after that another time in Normal Mode. The reports are attached here.
My computer is working very nicely now despite the fact that I've loaded quite a bit stuff in it smile.gif
