Hi all,
Have just reformatted my fujitsu seimens AMILO A1650 laptop and put on a fresh install of xp.

All has gone well apart from no sound whatsover ? ? ?

In sounds and audio devices everything appears to be blanked out.
It says that there is " no audio device " and the volume and advanced settings are all blanked out.
Under the " audio " and " voice " tabs everything is blanked out also.

Doesnt appers to be any way to get a sound out of it at all,,nothing, no windows sounds, no logon or shutdown sounds and no audio from cds.

When i open up WMP ( 9 ) it opens up fine but as soon as you try to play something an error box comes up saying

" windows media player cannot play the file because there is a problem with your sound device. There may not be a sound device installed on your computer, it may be in use by another program or not functioning properly "

Any ideas ? ? ? it was working completly fine last night until i reformatted and reinstalled this morning !

Hope someone can help.. many thanks,, kev

Howdy:

Did you install the sound card drivers?

You should be able to find them either on the driver cd with your system or at the manufacturers website.

He's Right. You have no audio drivers try fujitsu seimens site and download them

they may be part of your chipset drivers too...get both your chipset and audio drivers...
you can also use windows update and look on the left side for any hardware updates..get any it says you need
