Could you be a bit more specific? Is there an error you get? Can you not access the windows update page? Do you get redirected when you click on Microsoft download links?

Well firstly, tell me this:
How are you trying to download SP3?

try getting it here...
make sure your computer is clean of malware before you try installing SP3...
also create a restore point just prior to installing it...

I suggest that to avoid problems with SP3 installation, the file be downloaded and "Saved." Then disable everything from auto-start, disconnect from the internet, reboot, and install SP3 on a 'naked' Windows.

Be aware that if SP3 is installed on a system with IE7, IE7 will be made a permanent part of the OS and will not be able to be un-installed from Add/Remove. To avoid this situation, un-install IE7 (it will automatically revert to IE6) before applying SP3. After a successful SP3 install, IE7 can be re-installed without complaint.

this is a perfect example of why you should start your own thread and not hijack someone else's..
this is what shows up in my e-mail...note the topic...
the OP ( original poster) DES315 has just posted a reply to a topic that you have subscribed to titled "Windows XP Service Pack 3
his problem is..

joedee problems are different...got several different things going...
and me thinking this is about SP3...I then have to go back a reread the whole thread only to discover it has nothing to do with the original problem at all...or even the OP..
ITS A WASTE OF TIME and confusing
