I came home and realized that the power went out because my alarm clock was flashing. So i tried to turn on my computer and.............it won't turn on. I looked in the back of it and there is a green light flashing really fast, when i pull the power cord out it still flashes but a little bit slower? Does this mean my computer is messed or I missing something here? what should I do |

Hello,
Sounds like your power supply may be fried. The easyest way to test for this is to use a known good power supply. Here are instructions on how to change the power supply. Unplug the computer before opening the case There is a chance that the motherboard is the issue, but lets try the power supply first. |

The capacitors on your mother board will hold a charge for a while.
That is why you should always use care with electronic devices even if they are unplugged. |

I really hope it's not the mother board, a power suppley wouldn't be to hard to fix. or much money.
It's also making a ticking sound when plugged in. |

QUOTE It's also making a ticking sound when plugged in. That changes everything. Do you get anything on the screen when you first turn on the machine? Any beeps? If there is a tic tic tic... it may be your hard drive. Watch the screen closely when you first power up the machine, any thing at all? This post has been edited by hfcg: Sep 30 2008, 08:54 PM |

Well i can't get it to go on haha
but the ticking sound is going at the same rate as the flashing light in the back right below the power cord. and when i take it out, the flashing light flashes in slower intervals and the ticking sound follows the slower intervals of the flash. if that helps? |

O.K., that sounds like a power supply issue.
