I just got this virus. the first thing it did was put gay sex short cuts and "malware defender" icons on my desktop. it also replaced my wallpaper with a fake error message on a white screen. I did a scan with AVG 7.5.524 and replaced the fake walpaper with my own. things started to run faster once I ended some tasks. but I reboot and within about 2 mins (as the destop was still loading) it locked up. I try to boot in safe mode (both with and without networking) and Im hit with the blue screen immediatly.

I have a hijack, but I cant seem to get it online before the lockup kicks in.

oh, and my task manager is now disabled. I hope you guys can help.

Hello, my name is fenzodahl512 and welcome to Geekstogo..

Please download these files from another computer and transfer it to your own computer via cd/thumbdrive.. Save all of them directly to your Desktop

Now, first of all, just leave ComboFix and OTMoveIt2 alone. Don't use them yet.. We will use them later..

1. Flash Disinfector Step
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
  • Reboot your computer when done.

Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

2. Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
  • Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.
  • If an update is found, it will download and install the latest version.
  • Once the program has loaded, select "Perform Full Scan", then click Scan.
  • The scan may take some time to finish,so please be patient.
  • When the scan is complete, click OK, then Show Results to view the results.
  • Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
  • When disinfection is completed, a log will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to Restart.(See Extra Note)
  • The log is automatically saved by MBAM and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.
  • Copy&Paste the entire report in your next reply.

Extra Note:
If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts, click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process,if asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately.

3. RSIT Step
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT
  • Before you click "Continue", make sure you change the List files/folders created or modified in the last 3 months
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt and info.txt in your next reply.

4. Runscanner Step
  • When the first page comes up select Beginner Mode
  • On the next page select Save a binary .Run file (Recommended) then click Start full scan at the top.
  • At this time Runscanner.exe may request access to the Internet through your firewall please allow it to do so, it will then run for two or three minutes.
  • It will then ask you to save two files, the .run file and the log. Save both of them in your Desktop.
  • You will see the .run file on your desktop. Please zip the .run file and attach it in your next reply

Then upload that as an attachment in your next post.

Post me these logs in your next reply.. You have to transfer these logs to another computer and post them here if you still can't connect to the internet..
1. Malwarebytes'
2. RSIT log.txt
3. RSIT info.txt
4. Attach Runscanner .run file

I dont have access to another computer, I'm posting from my wii right now. Is there a work around or should I wait until I find someone with a comp I can use?

maybe theres a chance I can download them If Im quick enough...

Edit: I finally managed to get FF to open, but trying to get to these forums the I kept getting hijacked/redirected until it locked up. I'll have another go tomorrow, its getting late.

Ok, download these programs first.. You might need to download them one-by-one (that means restart your computer a few times)

1. RSIT
2. OTMoveIt2
3. ComboFix
4. Flash Disinfector..

Just do the Flash Disinfector >> RSIT step.. leave ComboFix and OTMoveIt2 alone on Desktop.. We will use them later..

Better still if you can download all of them from another computer and transfer it to yours..

Post me at least RSIT log.txt and RSIT info.txt in your next reply..

It seems to only redirect the sites I need. pages like youtube or other random sites work fine, but both geeks2go and the download pages to the apps I need always redirect. Hijack shows search hooks but I cant seem to stop them.

my system is stable enough now to stay on for a decent amount of time, but Im still unable to reach the sites I need. Ive tried all my browsers too. (firefox, E explorer, opera, safari).

I havnt made it to any steps as I cant go to the sites I need to without my browser taking me to this unrelated site, usually some kind of chilli pepper place...

I understand you cant do much without logs, I was just hopeing if maybe you knew of a way to help me bypass the browser hijack to get to the apps I need.

assuming the answer is no, I'll have to wait til I can find someone with a comp I can use.

OK Im useing a ps3 to get the files. tried to run flash disinfector but it tells me its not a valid win32 application. but I ran RSIT and have those logs. (I'll be back with a link, hoefully, cant do attachments on this)

Edit: ok I ran combofix to see if it ould at least allow me to bypass the redirecting, and it did. so I can now post from my pc again.
heres my RSIT logs.info.txt logfile of random's system information tool 1.04 2008-10-06 14:24:17
