Yesterday my girlfriend's computer got infected with Outerinfo, and I proceeded to waste my ENTIRE day trying to get rid of it. I literally tried everything I could think of. I also followed the guide on these forums (http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/How-to-remove-Outerinfo-pop-ups-aka-PurityScan-OIN-t134763.html) to get rid of it, but my girlfriends computer is still messing up. She only has 3 tabs on her Display Properties (Screen Saver and Desktop are missing) and her USB Wireless Adapter seems to have been disabled by the spyware. Anyways, to make a long story short, this piece of crap is PISSING the [bleep] out of me. Anyways, can someone PLEASE help me with this? Here's the HijackThis Log and the SuperAntiSpyware log as well. I tried running ComboFix to get a log, but I run it and nothing happens, it just loads up and nothing pops up.

Don't put the logs in code boxes

Please visit this web page for instructions for downloading and running ComboFix

http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/combofix/how-to-use-combofix

This includes installing the Windows XP Recovery Console in case you have not installed it yet.

For more information on the Windows XP Recovery Console read http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314058.

Once you install the Recovery Console, when you reboot your computer, you'll see the option for the Recovery Console now as well. Don't select Recovery Console as we don't need it. By default, your main OS is selected there. The screen stays for 2 seconds and then it proceeds to load Windows. That is normal.

Post the log from ComboFix when you've accomplished that, along with a new HijackThis log.

Well, ComboFix isn't working. When I drag the file onto ComboFix to install the WindowsXP Recovery Console, the ComboFix screen loads and everything, but nothing happens. No dialog box pops up, nothing. I can't install the Recovery Console normally since my GF doesn't have any CDs (Or else we would have formatted the computer already).

I try running ComboFix again after that, and nothing happens as well.

Any suggestions?

Try rename ComboFix.exe to ABC.exe and run it

If that fails do this

  • Download random's system information tool (RSIT) by random/random from here and save it to your desktop.
  • Double click on RSIT.exe to run RSIT.
  • Click Continue at the disclaimer screen.
  • Once it has finished, two logs will open. Please post the contents of both log.txt (<<will be maximized) and info.txt (<<will be minimized)

Hello

Before we begin, you should save these instructions in Notepad to your desktop, or print them, for easy reference. Much of our fix will be done in Safe mode, and you will be unable to access this thread at that time. If you have questions at any point, or are unsure of the instructions, feel free to post here and ask for clarification before proceeding.

Download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

Double click SDFix.exe and it will extract the files to %systemdrive%
(Drive that contains the Windows Directory, typically C:\SDFix)

Please then reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, the Advanced Options Menu should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press Enter.
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the extracted SDFix folder and double click RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y to begin the cleanup process.
  • It will remove any Trojan Services and Registry Entries that it finds then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any Key and it will restart the PC.
  • When the PC restarts the Fixtool will run again and complete the removal process then display Finished, press any key to end the script and load your desktop icons.
  • Once the desktop icons load the SDFix report will open on screen and also save into the SDFix folder as Report.txt
(Report.txt will also be copied to Clipboard ready for posting back on the forum).
  • Finally paste the contents of the Report.txt back on the forum.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):

    CODE
    :Processes
    explorer.exe

    :Services

    :Reg
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\Minimal\TDSSserv.sys]
    [-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\SafeBoot\network\TDSSserv.sys]
    [-HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\windows\currentversion\explorer\mountpoints2\{f5cd631a-c868-11db-98b7-00038a000015}]

    :Files
    C:\Program Files\GetModule
    C:\Program Files\GetPack
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\lphc319j0eef7.exe
    C:\Program Files\Common\helper.dll

    :Commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
    [Reboot]

  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3

Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.

Then try this again

Is the SDFix supposed to take a long time to run? It's been on the same step after I hit Y and hasn't changed.
