What's the Best Codec to Record On-Screen Video With?

I am currently trying to record an on-screen PowerPoint presentation using Camtasia. The slides in my presentation all have video backgrounds.

That said, what is the best codec for recording a slide-show like this one? I was using the "MSU Lossless Codec" which I heard was really good... but that codec totally failed when I attempted to record my slide-show with the video backgrounds.

Can anyone recommend a codec for doing this?

Note: I am not actually recording PowerPoint on-screen. I am recording a program called "Ovation" which is made by Adobe. Ovation is the program that adds video backgrounds to my slides.
