Hi.
It has been quite a while but i seem, well my son has. gotten us a virus.
Pop-ups repeatedly state that 'you have a security problem'.
I have done a scan with 'superantispyware' but it cannot get rid of this begger.
Please advise as it is quite a while since i have needed help, and i am a bit of a beginner when it comes to computer jargon, so as simple as possible please.
Regards

Hi and welcome back to the forums.

Please follow the instructions at the following link. After running the tools then post a HijackThis log back to this link and let me know how it's running. Do not start a new topic. Instructions for running HJT is at the end of the link:

If you have issues with system restore do not worry, just go ahead and post the HijackThis log and we can go from there.

Please download SDFix and save it to your Desktop.

You should print out these instructions, or copy them to a NotePad file for reading while in Safe Mode, because you will not be able to connect to the Internet to read from this site.

Double click on SDFix.exe. It should automatically extract a folder called SDFix to your system drive (usually C:\). Please reboot your computer in Safe Mode by doing the following :
  • Restart your computer
  • After hearing your computer beep once during startup, but before the Windows icon appears, tap the F8 key continually;
  • Instead of Windows loading as normal, a menu with options should appear;
  • Select the first option, to run Windows in Safe Mode, then press "Enter".
  • Choose your usual account.
  • Open the SDFix folder and double click on RunThis.bat to start the script.
  • Type Y and press Enter to begin the script.
  • It will start cleaning your PC and then prompt you to press any key to Reboot.
  • Press any key to restart the PC.
  • Your system will take longer than normal to restart as the fixtool will be removing files.
  • When the desktop loads the Fixtool will complete the removal and display Finished.
  • Press any key to end the script and to load your desktop icons.
  • A text file should automatically open, so please copy the contents and post them here. We also need you to post a new HijackThis log

Hi again,
and thanks for the assistance, but nothing ever goes straight forward for me.
I set up in safe mode but when i opened SDFIX folder a window appeared with 'open file' 'security warning'. It lets me press run or cancel, of which i clicked run, it gives me a notepad report, which i will paste below, but it does not give me the option to click on 'RunThis.bat' OR type 'Y'.
I rebooted computer as normal.

I have just noticed that the notepad report for SDFix has vanished, i have done another in normal mode, please advise.
SDFix has been extracted to %systemdrive%\SDFix\
(Drive that contains the Windows directory - typically C:\SDFix)

Open the SDFix folder in Safe Mode and double click the RunThis.bat file to start the fixtool
If RunThis.bat is started in Normal Mode, options to download and run Anti-Virus command line scanners are displayed

Catchme.exe Stealth Malware Detector by GMER is also included in the SDFix folder

Additional SDFix Instructions & screen shots can be found here - http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/forums/topic131299.html

OK let's make some fixes manually.

Run HijackThis. (Vista users, please right click on HijackThis.exe and select "Run as an Administrator")
Click Do a System Scan Only. Put a Check in the box on the left side on these:

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [uofyfanxkgl] C:\WINDOWS\System32\regsvr32.exe /s "C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxofaovmpycf.dll"
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [aplui] C:\WINDOWS\system32\dwlclqji.exe
O21 - SSODL: gormet - {6C856172-F8FF-4263-8C0F-18BDBFF1E622} - C:\WINDOWS\gormet.dll (file missing)
O21 - SSODL: pmkret - {231B69D8-D4D4-413F-926B-2259A2ED3FE3} - C:\WINDOWS\pmkret.dll (file missing)

Then close all windows except HijackThis and press Fix checked.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop.
  • Please double-click OTMoveIt3.exe to run it. (Note: If you are running on Vista, right-click on the file and choose Run As Administrator).
  • Copy the lines in the codebox below to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose Copy):
    CODE
    :processes
    explorer.exe
    files:
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dxofaovmpycf.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\dwlclqji.exe
    C:\WINDOWS\gormet.dll
    C:\WINDOWS\pmkret.dll
    :commands
    [purity]
    [emptytemp]
    [start explorer]
  • Return to OTMoveIt3, right click in the "Paste Instructions for Items to be Moved" window (under the yellow bar) and choose Paste.
  • Click the red Moveit! button.
  • Copy everything in the Results window (under the green bar) to the clipboard by highlighting ALL of them and pressing CTRL + C (or, after highlighting, right-click and choose copy), and paste it in your next reply.
  • Close OTMoveIt3
Note: If a file or folder cannot be moved immediately you may be asked to reboot the machine to finish the move process. If you are asked to reboot the machine choose Yes. In this case, after the reboot, open Notepad (Start->All Programs->Accessories->Notepad), click File->Open, in the File Name box enter *.log and press the Enter key, navigate to the C:\_OTMoveIt\MovedFiles folder, and open the newest .log file present, and copy/paste the contents of that document back here in your next post.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

One of the main issues you have also right now is that you do not have any Anti-Virus software. This is critical in preventing future infection and should be installed ASAP. There are a few excellent free for home use ones so there is no excuse. Install, update, and run a full system scan with one of these and let it fix or quarantine whatever it finds. Let me know how you make out and post a new HijackThis log.

SAS is an Anti-Spyware, not an Anti-Virus. So it is a good Anti-Spyware but not enough.

It appears you feed all the text from my post into OtMoveIt. You need only post the text from inside the codebox into OT.

C:\WINDOWS\system32\dwlclqji.exe
C:\WINDOWS\gormet.dll

Please try that again and post the log from OTMoveIT.

Hi Indi,
I am not having much luck i'm afraid.
When i open up the SDFix folder it automatically opens up starts withdrawinf files and after afew seconds diappears and leaves a window, 'THE INSTALLED TEXT; NOTEPAD.
