Please can somone help? I am using windows xp with a homecall broadband connection. Everytime I try to open up an IE homepage it opens up MS-DOS and then opens 6 separate IE windows with the name C:\windows\update-sp1.html The pc then freezes and tells me it's not responding! When I then try and open up a new IE page, it won't let me insert a new address. I have tried downloading Ad-ware, but it freezes halfway through. I also can't open Norton anti-virus or download any microsoft updates. The update in services.msc keeps going to disable aswell. I can't download any spyware programmes without it freezing and stopping the process. Can anyone please help?

You need to download these programs and burn to a CD, then copy them to the effected machine.

Please go to the malware forum in my signature and follow the instructions at the top....Especially the CLICK HERE .

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself. If at the end of the process you are still having difficulty, then post a hijackthis log in THAT forum.
