Hi there my PC has been fairly stable until recent. At no notice a box comes up on the screen and it says: please save all of your work as windows will shut down in 35 seconds. Can anyone shed any light on my problem?? I thank you for your time. helpsmilie.gif

Howdy:

Is that the EXACT and entire error message??

What are you running for an anti-virus program and firewall??

Do you have all the latest Windows Service Packs and Critical Updates installed??

you might a virus, update your antivirus and run a full scan on your system.

NOTE make sure you have disconnected yourself from the internet, hence unplug your network cable or modem connection before your run the scan.

I don't think this would be set by default.

Def. sounds like a virus. I'd boot into safemode and run a system scan. Let us know if it comes up with anything.

you would be supprised how uncle bill assumes you would like your system to be configured.

by the description of the "box" that comes up it sounds like the window that comes up when you do a shutdown from a command line with the shutdown -s command. it gives you exactly 35 seconds before the system shuts down
