The easiest way to find out your system specs would be for you to download and run Belarc Advisor. Belarc will then analyse your hardware and display a report.

Have you tried re-installing DirectX?
Have you tried lowering the display settings in the game?
Have you tried changing your refresh rate?
Have you tried changing the hardware acceleration settings?

Microsoft Windows 2000 or Microsoft Windows XP

Goto start > control panel > display > settings > advanced > troubleshoot. Then move the Hardware Acceleration slider two notches to the left of Full (the Disable all cursor and advanced drawing accelerations setting) and then click ok twice.

Microsoft Windows 98 or Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me)

Goto start > settings > control panel > system > performance > graphics.
The move the Hardware Acceleration slider one notch to the left of Full (the Most acceleration setting), then click ok and close.

Do you know if your AGP aperture size is set correctly in the bios?
