100% CPU?!?! My comp slow as [bleep]

Is the Toolkit for Runscape your startup?

Nope, it's not toolkit, and no it doesn't start up.

Is there any way or test to find out exactly what is making it go to 100% cpu? I check the meter and it goes from 32% and 2 seconds later goes straight to 100% then down gain and so on...

Let's check the transfer modes...

Right click on My Computer and choose "Properties". Click the "Hardware" tab and then the "Device Manager" button. Expand (click +) IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers.

Right click on the Primary IDE channel, choose "Properties", then click the "Advanced Settings" tab. List the Current Transfer Mode for each device shown for this channel.

Right click on the Secondary IDE channel, choose "Properties", then click the "Advanced Settings" tab. List the Current Transfer Mode for each device shown for this channel.

IN VISTA

Click the Start orb and then click Control Panel. In Control Panel, click on "Device Manager". Then follow the rest of the instructions above.

There are some suspicious entries in the log.

Please go to the Malware Forum and follow the instructions found there.

That will give you several steps that will help you clean up 70 percent of all problems by yourself...then post the requested logs in a new topic HERE. Be patient, the Malware Forum is a very busy place and a two or three day wait is not unusual. DO NOT REPLY TO OR BUMP YOUR OWN LOG. If it shows a reply it may be overlooked as one that is being worked on.

If you are still having problems after getting a clean bill of health from the malware expert, please return to this thread.

Right wannabe, i followed your instructions and it's still the same problem. I've made my topic in the malware forums though - http://www.geekstogo...00-t232216.html

You might want to give the experts a fresh HJT log...the one you posted is the same one you posted here...and you've since run some cleanup applications on it. Edit the current post, though...don't add a reply.

Let's wait and see what the malware folks have to say.

No response from them yet, has gone to the third page my topic, but i havn't bumped it up or nothing :S

Getting worried now that someone looked at it and doesn't know if it's fixable or not :S Sometimes my cpu shoots straight from 0 to 100% and remains at 100% constantly.

I open up 1 browser from start up and it nearly explodes :S

I'm gonna try safemode and see if there's a difference.
