I have a little experience in this department. From my experience, the key thing is not just keywords for your industry but the keywords that are going to earn you revenue.

What exactly are you looking for?

Hello. I spoke with a guy from Whitehat Media - an SEO expertise company - and was told that how they work out the keywords is by doing this:

Ask the client for a list of keywords/key phrases they want to be found for.

Enter the keywords "into our software" - which generates a list of the specific positioning of your site at that present moment for each individual given keyword.

So, the biggest problem is - what keywords do you use? Well, to a certain extent, half-sign up for the Yahoo 'Overture' (it's now changed it's name, can't remember what it is nowadays), enter a keyword, and the yahoo page will give you 'suggested keywords' and the number of hits that specific keyword gets per month. Although this won't help much in terms of Google, it'll still let you get up there on Yahoo, as it certainly worked for me:)

Good luck, if you find out any more, let me know:D
