Using a pc with W98 … How do I attach a screen shot to a posting here In GtG? Here is what I have tried; where am I going wrong?
1. I view the image and click Print Screen 2. I go to Paint and click Ctrl-V and I see the image 3. I save it with SaveAs “testimage.jpg” 4. I get a message saying “The image on the clipboard is larger than the bitmap. Would you like the bitmap enlarged?” 5. I say “yes” and my image is stored as C:\MyDocuments\testimage.bmp. 6. I try to attach C:\MyDocuments\testimage.bmp to a posting here but nothing happens. If I look at the properties of C:\MyDocuments\testimage.bmp I see it has more than 500Kbytes. Is that why it is being rejected (as exceding 500KB)? Using Paint, how do I save an image at lower resolution so that it has fewer than 500KB? Thanks. |

Save it as a JPEG, not a bitmap.
Bitmaps are horrible file formats because they take up so much room to do anything. Saving the same file in JPEG format will probably cut the filesize by 90%. |

Thanks. I see ... but <can> I save a file in PAINT as a jpeg file? I have posted this follow-up in the Applications Forum:
My W98 pc uses the application PAINT. When I try to save a graphic using PAINT I seem to be offered only extentions BMP and DIB, not JPEG or JPG. Am I missing something? How can I save a graphic in JPEG -- to save an image with reasonable (unlike BMP) size? Or do I <have> to use a different app, not PAINT? |
