I have been trying to remove this Malware for a week now. Have used S & D, Adaware, and Microsoft Antispyware. All seem to remove it then it re-installs itself. Have also tried running all of the above in safe mode. Microsoft finds the following each time: "Trojan.Startup.0e3d3Trojan",
"Transsponder.ABETTERINTERNET.Aurora", and "Transsponder.ABETTERINTERNET.DrPMon". S&D finds "Abetterinternet", and "HotsearchBar" I have not used HiJackThis before, but here is the log file from a scan: Logfile of HijackThis v1.99.1 Scan saved at 10:18:26 AM, on 6/7/2005 Platform: Windows XP SP2 (WinNT 5.01.2600) MSIE: Internet Explorer v6.00 SP2 (6.00.2900.2180) Running processes: C:\WINDOWS\System32\smss.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\winlogon.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\services.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\lsass.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\spoolsv.exe C:\WINDOWS\System32\Ati2evxx.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccEvtMgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\VS7DEBUG\MDM.EXE C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\navapsvc.exe C:\Program Files\Norton AntiVirus\AdvTools\NPROTECT.EXE C:\WINDOWS\System32\svchost.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\Security Center\SymWSC.exe C:\WINDOWS\Explorer.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Symantec Shared\ccApp.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Real\Update_OB\realsched.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasServ.exe c:\windows\system32\wutuul.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\gcasDtServ.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WCESCOMM.EXE C:\Program Files\Microsoft ActiveSync\WCESMgr.exe C:\Program Files\iolo\Common\Task Agent\task_agent.exe C:\WINDOWS\system32\ctfmon.exe C:\Program Files\MSN Messenger\msnmsgr.exe C:\Program Files\Common Files\Intuit\QuickBooks\QBUpdate\qbupdate.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE C:\Program Files\MSN Apps\Updater\01.02.3000.1001\en-us\msnappau.exe C:\Program Files\Microsoft AntiSpyware\GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-aware 6\Ad-aware.exe C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe C:\Program Files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe C:\Documents and Settings\terry\Desktop\etr\HijackThis.exe R1 - tdschawe,
Welcome to the GTG Forums, I will be reviewing your HJT log. Please read "ALL" of the instructions before proceeding: You may want to print out these instructions for a reference or you can save them by copying and pasting them into notepad and saving the text file to the desktop. Download CleanUp Install the program, dont run it yet, we will later. Download CWShredder And save it to your desktop. Close all open browser windows and any other open windows. Install CWShredder, then: Open CWShredder and click Check for Updates Then click "FIX" Once the the program has finished running, click exit. Please download Hoster from the link below. Hoster Unzip the program and save it your desktop
http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ Please read Ewido Setup Instructions Install it, and update the definitions to the newest files. Do NOT run a scan yet. Please download Nailfix from here: Nailfix.zip Unzip it to the desktop but please do NOT run it yet. Next, please reboot your computer in SafeMode by doing the following:
SafeMode Help Once in SafeMode, please double-click on Nailfix.cmd. Your desktop and icons will disappear and reappear, and a window should open and close very quickly --- this is normal. Then please run Ewido, and run a full scan. Save the logfile from the scan. Now scan with HijackThis and place a checkmark next to each of the following items: R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie-search.com/home.html (obfuscated) R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Default_Search_URL = http://ie-search.com/home.html (obfuscated) R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Search Bar = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,SearchAssistant = about:blank R0 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Search,CustomizeSearch = about:blank R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank R1 - HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\SearchURL,(Default) = about:blank R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Local Page = F2 - REG:system.ini: Shell=Explorer.exe C:\WINDOWS\Nail.exe O1 - Hosts: 3466709097 www.your.com O1 - Hosts: 3466709097 your.com O1 - Hosts: 3466690378 ad.doubleclick.net O1 - Hosts: 3466690378 view.atdmt.com O1 - Hosts: 3466690378 click.atdmt.com O1 - Hosts: 3466690378 leader.linkexchange.com O3 - Toolbar: (no name) - {2CDE1A7D-A478-4291-BF31-E1B4C16F92EB} - (no file) O16 - DPF: {1C955F3B-5B32-4393-A05D-24B4970CD2A1} - http://spystream.babenet.com/cabs/videox.cab Close all open windows except for HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button. Start CleanUp When CleanUp starts go to the Options button (right side of CleanUp screen) Uncheck cookies This is optional, if you leave the box checked it will remove all of your cookies, at this point removing cookies is a good idea. Click OK Then click on the CleanUp button. This will take a short while, let it do its thing. When asked to reboot system select No Close CleanUp Restart your computer in normal mode and please post a new HijackThis log, as well as the log from the Ewido scan by using Add Reply Thanks, rstones12 |

Sorry for the slow reply. I tried to run ewido several times in safe mode, but it is so slow (30% after an hour) that I have been unable to complete a scan - I will keep trying. Tried at night, but it stoped when it got to an infection, so I had to start over. The other items I completed succesfully though, and they appear to have worked. My computer sems to running fine with no aurora popups. Thanks for the help.
