Hey, I've got a tough one here.

On and off the last year or so I've gotten the bsod when playing video-files. It seems to be more frequent when I have utorrent running, but i won't swear by it.
It's quite the common thing, so I looked it up on the internet and found a few solutions. I've cleaned up my registry, done the memtest, used different codecs/players, checked for dirt on my hardware... Everything. The only thing that worked was when I uninstalled my graphicscard and then installed it again. Everything works fine for A FEW DAYS (2-3, maybe 4 sometimes) and then the bsod reappears.
I've built my computer myself, it was about three years ago, so I don't think it's a compatibility-thing.

Iv'e heard that the irql_not_less... can mean graphics, ram, cpu, hdd and mobo, as well as drivers. But if it was a hardware problem, shouldn't there be other signs too?

Download WhoCrashed from the link in my signature below
This program checks for any drivers which may have been causing your computer to crash....

Click on the file you just downloaded and run it.
Put a tick in Accept then click on Next
Put a tick in the Don't create a start menu folder then click Next
Put a tick in Create a Desktop Icon then click on Install and make sure there is a tick in Launch Whocrashed before clicking Finish
Click Analyze
It will want to download the Debugger and install it Say Yes
WhoCrashed will create report but you have to scroll down to see it
Copy and paste it into your next reply

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Conclusion
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

51 crash dumps have been found on your computer. Only 40 could be analyzed. Note that it's not always possible to state with certainty whether a reported driver is really responsible for crashing your system or that the root cause is in another module. Nonetheless it's suggested you look for updates for the products that these drivers belong to and regularly visit Windows update or enable automatic updates for Windows. In case a piece of malfunctioning hardware is causing trouble, a search with Google on the bug check errors together with the model name and brand of your computer may help you investigate this further.

If this is correct, I do believe we've found the bad driver.

All your crashes are due to nvatabus.sys which is your video card.
I suggest doing the following steps since you have Utorrent installed on your system.
I also suggest uninstalling Utorrent because most likely this is going to be the root of your problems since most of the files downloaded form P2P can contain malware.

I suggest you go to the Malware Removal and Spyware Removal Forum and run all the steps located in the START HERE. These self-help tools will help you clean up 70% of problems on your own. If you are still having problems after doing the steps, then please post the reguested logs in THAT forum. If you are unable to run any of the tools then start a new topic in the malware forum and put this in the subject line...I am unable to run any malware tools

If you are still having problems after being given a clean bill of health from the malware expert, then please return to THIS thread and we will pursue other options to help you solve your current problem(s).

Add a link to this topic so that malware tech can see what steps have been taken here

No reply in the malware-section, but i think I'm pretty clean. I run an active anti-virus (kaspersky internet security) and semi-regularly scan with advanced systemcare.

I did solve this though. While I waited for a reply in the malware forum, I checked up on problems with nvatabus.sys. On a forum somewhere, some other guy was told to delete the nvidia IDE-drivers, reverting to windows own would solve it. I downloaded the drivers to have them handy just in case and followed the short guide. And it worked. I watched four movies and the first season of scrubs these last three days without a single bluescreen.

I got a new problem though, the hdd that had the movies crashed. I guess it has been bad for some time, causing trouble for nvatabus.sys or something. Lucky me, I kept a spare. When I'm done with swapping the drives (sometime next year by the looks of it) I'll see if the problem is still there. Thanks for the help again.

According to your malware log you are infected with a trojan. I suggest you stay with it and if it has been more then 3 days since you posted your topic then go HERE and post in the Waiting Room with a link to your malware topic and the original date of the topic. Include a short description of your issue.

Yes, there was a trojan then. I was stupid enough to let it in when I wasn't paying attention earlier that day. KIS shut it down(stopped all access to anything) and MBAM found and removed the infected file. Nothing has shown up since then, notice that the scan was made ten days ago.

I'd post a new log, but I'm still moving files, and the computer shuts down when the bad drive thinks it's has had enough. I just don't want to antagonize it further until everything I need is on another drive.

Hopefully you don't have any deeper infection that may be transferred over while moving files. Hopefully you can get the hardware issue resolved without much trouble.
I will continue to monitor this topic in case you have any other questions or concerns.
