Backing up hard drive on another system - Access is Denied

Hello,

I'm sending in my laptop for repair, and was told that the HD will be wiped. I found a USB adapter that let me remove my laptop HD and connect it to my desktop for backing up my files.

It works fine, but XP will not allow me to access my user files; when I try to open D:\Documents and Settings\<My Name>\ it says "D:\Documents and Settings\<My Name>\ is not accesible. Access is denied". Any ideas?

Thanks.
