You should not have to keep doing it
Items in blue which are underlined are clickable to give more information about the process
Click start then run, type prefetch then press enter, click edit then select all, right click any file then click delete, confirm delete
Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc clean up
Click start, all programmes, accessories, system tools to run disc defragmenter
Click start then run, type sfc /scannow then press enter, you need the XP CD
Windows File Protection will show a blue onscreen progress bar, when the bar goes, reboot

Starting up explorer.exe does not bring up the desktop. It's still gone.

Well my startup objects dont start.. ex: Aim.exe, etc... they dont load. is there another option w/o the use to XP CD?
sxechic - if there's another explorer.exe running, you can try ending that and running it again. i've been doing that to make it run, dunno if it makes it worse.

If you click start, all programmes, start up, what is in there?

I can't click start. I have no taskbar. There's absolutely nothing except the Task Manager when I click Control>alt>delete
I did manually find my prefetch folder and clean it out though
