Hello experts smile.gif

I have a Win Vista installed on my lap-top... The lap-top already has pre-installed Vista but it was running on Italian language so my friend change it to English because I wanted so...

The lap-top is Acer Aspire 5720.

I have problem with a blue screen. When I turn on my PC the system goes well... I see the Desktop, the icons and etc. but after few seconds a blue screen appears saying something about "driver not less or equal"...

After that the system restarts and then everything goes well until the next restart or shut down...

I also had a report from Vista about the problem..

Here's the screenshot:

Can you help me to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Fidel

Hello,

That picture shows the location of the minidump files. Can you attach them for analyst please. That will better help. The Driver not less or equal points to a Driver conflict. But i have not heard of the BSOD before. I have heard of IRQL not less or equal. Are you sure that wasn't it?

Cheers,
Mak

And yes, it's saying "driver IRQL not less or equal".

Sometimes it's restarting few times in a row...

Hello,

The files you need to attach are the ones located in the C:\Windows\minidump folder. To view them open Computer. Click Organize. then select Folder Options. From there in the View tab select the option to show hidden files and folders.

Then navigate to C:\Windows and find the minidump folder. There use WinRar to archive them. From there when you click add reply you will see a box below where you type. It says attachments. Click on the choose button. that will bring up the Windows File Viewer. Navigate to where yo have the minidump files archived and select them. Then click the upload button. That will attach them to your post. wink.gif

The IRQL error is mostly related to bad drivers. So you should check for updated drivers for all your devices from the PC manufacturer's website.

Cheers,
Mak

Sorry for the delay, I was out of town...

Note that my original Vista was on Italian and my friend changed it to English so I think that is the only thing that could harm some files or something like that...

As for the attachments you probably didn't know but...

Upload failed. You are not permitted to upload this type of file

Hello,

Sorry didnt know about the attachment issue. But we can work around it. Use WinRar and archive the file. Then from there use a service like Bandango, SendSpace or even RapidShare. Megaupload will work as well. Some place that you can just upload the file and get a link to download it. From there i can analyze it for you and get you some info.

Cheers,
Mak

Hello,

According to your dump files this is what it causing the issue.

IMAGE_NAME: timerstop.sys
IMAGE_NAME: ntoskrnl.exe

Now what this is telling me is that the file timerstop.sys is causing the Kernel not to load. So the file at fault is the timerstop. Which from my finding is not a good thing. wink.gif It is in regards to a patch applied to the system.

http://www.google.com/search?source=ig&...G=Google+Search

So you get rid of that patch and the system should operate just fine. Can you get into Safe Mode or does it just BSOD when trying to load?

Cheers,
Mak

Hello,

Yes. That is what is causing your issues. Deleting it should get you a working system again.

I tried with the search but I couldn't find that file...

You are not running a genuine copy of Windows Vista, the way to solve this would be to remove the patch you (or someone else) applied and to activate Windows in a legal way.
Please understand that we can not help you further if you decide to keep a non-genuine copy.

Hello,

We can understand what was done. But from the looks of it he did not do it legally. He used a patch of some kind to bypass activation and this patch is what is causing you the issues.

Wasnt there a option in the Control Panel>Language settings to make it English?

Until the timerstop.sys item is removed there is nothing more we can do for you here. Sorry.

Cheers,
Mak
