Ok several days ago my internet went on the fritz, and I ran a virus scan, and one of the viruses it found was resycled\boot.com. I sent the file to quarantine, and now C: will not open, and I constantly get an error message saying "Windows cannot find resycled\boot.com make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the start button, and then click search. I am able to "explore" C, but am not able to open it. Please help, and many many thanks in advance!
Sincerely, -ohlin5 P.S. - I don't know if this problem is related somehow to the above malware, but many times when I search Google and I click on a link, it will just redirect me to several totally unrelated websites (nothing like the link I clicked on). I doesn't happen all the time, just a lot of the time. I think this might be related to the above because they happened at around the same time, but I don't know that for sure. EDIT: Ok this is really wierd, but I was reading around on other posts, and I ran across a post that mentioned the chkdsk utility, so I figured it couldn't hurt to run it. I did, and it said that it found errors and that I should run chkdsk with the /f command to fix these errors. I did that, and it then said that the disc was locked and in use by another process, but would I like to schedule it for the next time I restart? I said Yes, and it checked when I restarted, and now I can open my C: drive just fine. So it seems as if the C: drive issue has been worked out, but if someone could helped me on the Google redirecting issue mentioned in the P.S. I would be very gratefull. Thanks! Ok figured I would let you guys know that I got my issue figured out by running chkdsk, and then following the starting instructions that say they will remove about 70% of malware. Just letting you know that this topic can be closed!
Many Thanks! -ohlin5 |
