My computer definitely has Braviax, I found it in the Processes, but it may have other problems too. I am unable to run Malwarebytes or any other antivirus program, the computer just closes the program before it runs. There are multiple popups stating that I have a Virus, or that my computer is infected and I can not close them - not even with Task Manager. I can not open any programs, or get on the internet, I am using my spouse's computer to post the log. I could only run OTL in safe mode, so hopefully the log will still have the information you need. Thanks for your help. Here is the OTL log:

Hi, welcome to the G2G Forums. My username is Raktor, and I would be glad to help you with your malware issues. I'd be grateful if you would note the following:

  • Absence of symptoms does not always mean the computer is clean
  • Please do not run any scans or fixes without my direction.
  • Finally, stay with this topic until I give you the final 'All clear' post.

1) exeHelper
Please download exeHelper to your desktop.
Double-click on exeHelper.com to run the fix.
A black window should pop up, press any key to close once the fix is completed.
Post the contents of exehelperlog.txt (Will be created in the directory where you ran exeHelper.com, and should open at the end of the scan)
Note: If the window shows a message that says "Error deleting file", please re-run the program before posting a log - and post the two logs together (they will both be in the one file).

2) DDS

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

3) RootRepeal
Please download RootRepeal.zip.
Save it to your Desktop. Alternate download links here or here.
Please print these instructions, you will not have an Internet connection!
If you have a 3rd party "unzipping" program...use it to open the zipped file...then skip to Step 5. Otherwise...
  1. Right click on RootRepeal.zip and select "Extract All"....
  2. Click Next on the "Welcome to the Compressed (zipped) Folders Extraction Wizard."
  3. Click on the Browse...button, then click on Desktop, then click OK.
  4. Once done, check (tick) the Show extracted files box and click Finish.
  5. Before running RootRepeal:
Disconnect from the Internet as your system will be unprotected while using this tool.
Close all programs and temporarily disable your anti-virus, Firewall and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan.
  6. Open the RootRepeal folder and double-click on RootRepeal.exe to launch it.
  7. When the program opens, click the Report tab at the bottom, then click the Scan button.
  8. In the Select Scan, dialog which asks What do you want to include in the scan?, check ALL the boxes.
  9. Click OK.
  10. In the Select Drives, dialog Please select drives to scan: select all drives showing, then click OK.
The scan can take some time to finish. Do not use the computer while the scan is running.
When the scan has completed, a list of files will be generated in the RootRepeal window.
  11. Click on the Save Report button and save it as "rootrepeal.txt" to your desktop.
  12. Close and exit RootRepeal
  13. Double-click on the file rootrepeal.txt... Notepad will open... copy/paste the file contents in your next reply.

Make sure to enable your anti-virus, Firewall and any other security programs you disabled.
Note: If RootRepeal cannot complete a scan and results in a crash report, try repeating the scan in "safe mode".

4) What You Will Need To Post:
  • exeHelper log
  • DDS log
  • RootRepeal log

Thank you for your time and your help. I am unable to run anything in Normal Mode, so I had to do exeHelper and DDS in Safe Mode. After I ran DDS I actually seemed to have more Virus notifications and a Big Blue window would pop up when I Shut Down that stated in red letters that I had Spyware. When I switched to Safe Mode the machine would continually pop up a screen that said my computer was shutting down in 60 seconds by NT Authority/System. I kept trying and I was finally able to stay in Safe Mode. I was unable to get into Windows Firewall or my Antivirus programs to shut them off, but they didn't look like they were working anyways. I tried to run Root Repeal but it would close down after about 30 seconds of scanning. I tried numerous times. Sorry for the inconvenience, here is the exeHelper log, the DDS log, and the Attach file is attached.

Please read through the instructions to familiarize yourself with what to expect when the tool runs.

Please download Combofix from either of the links below, and save it to your desktop.
You must rename it before saving it. Save it as Combo-Fix.exe.

Link 1
Link 2

**Note: It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • Disable your AntiVirus and AntiSpyware applications, usually via a right click on the System Tray icon. They may otherwise interfere with our tools. Note: If you are having difficulty properly disabling your protective programs, or are unsure as to what programs need to be disabled, please refer to the information available through this link:How to Disable your Security Programs
  • Double click on Combo-Fix.exe & follow the prompts. Close all browsers/windows first.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal. It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Click on Yes, to continue scanning for malware.

When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Please include the C:\ComboFix.txt in your next reply.

Notes:

1.Do not mouse-click Combofix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.
2. ComboFix may reset a number of Internet Explorer's settings, including making I-E the default browser.
3. Combofix prevents autorun of ALL CD, floppy and USB devices to assist with malware removal & increase security. If this is an issue or makes it difficult for you -- please tell your helper.
4. CF disconnects your machine from the internet. The connection is automatically restored before CF completes its run. If CF runs into difficulty and terminates prematurely, the connection can be manually restored by restarting your machine.

Thank you for your help. I was only able to run Combo-fix in Safe Mode, and since I was unable to connect to the internet I couldn't download Windows Recovery Console. Combo-fix still ran, and the log is below. After it ran I was able to connect to the internet - I am wondering if I should run it again so that I can download the Recovery Console? There is defintely still viruses there, but it is getting better. Also, I can not turn Windows Firewall back on, it says something is not configured properly. Any help with that would be appreciated too. Thank you

  • Please open Notepad (Start -> Run -> type notepad in the Open field -> OK) and copy and paste the text present inside the code box below:

    CODE
    http://www.geekstogo.com/forum/Braviax-maybe-more-t253435.html

    Collect::
    C:\ileede.exe
    C:\joxa.exe
    C:\ddbpu.exe
    c:\windows\system32\memezori.exe
    c:\windows\system32\jaduguyu.dll
    C:\rhjdpc.exe
    C:\hwdgqmcw.exe
    C:\ruptbvv.exe
    C:\vhlyrkv.exe
    c:\windows\system32\fuduyefi.dll

    Registry::

    "zurepahaf"=-

  • Save this as CFScript.txt and change the "Save as type" to "All Files" and place it on your desktop.

  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before following the steps below. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • If you need help to disable your protection programs see here.
  • Referring to the screenshot above, drag CFScript.txt into ComboFix.exe.
  • ComboFix will now run a scan on your system. It may reboot your system when it finishes. This is normal.
  • When finished, it shall produce a log for you. Copy and paste the contents of the log in your next reply.

CAUTION: Do not mouse-click ComboFix's window while it is running. That may cause it to stall.

I dragged the script to Combo-Fix, and it starts, but it just hangs on the comment "ComboFix is preparing to run". Before I disabled my Anti-Virus it did run for a few minutes, is it possible it messed up the ComboFix files? Thank you for your help.

Delete that copy of ComboFix from your desktop, disable your antivirus, and download a fresh copy. Rename it to Combo-Fix.exe, and drag the CFScript.txt file to it.

1) Update Adobe
Your current version of Adobe Reader is out of date, and may contain security issues. Please uninstall the version you have now from Add/Remove programs, and then download and install the latest Adobe Reader.

2) Update Java
Your version of Java is outdated.

Please download JavaRa to your desktop and unzip it to its own folder

Run JavaRa.exe, pick the language of your choice and click Select. Then click Remove Older Versions.
Accept any prompts.
Open JavaRa.exe again and select Search For Updates.
Select Update Using Sun Java's Website then click Search and click on the Open Webpage button. Download and install the latest Java Runtime Environment (JRE) version for your computer.

3) DDS

Please download DDS and save it to your desktop from here or here or here.
Disable any script blocker, and then double click dds.scr to run the tool.
  • When done, DDS will open two (2) logs:
    • DDS.txt
    • Attach.txt
  • Save both reports to your desktop.

4) What You Will Need To Post:
  • DDS logs

Time for some housekeeping
  • Click START then RUN
  • Now type Combofix /u in the runbox and click OK

The above procedure will reset your System Restore and clear out the backups and quarantines created during the course of this fix.

How to reduce your chances of infection in the future

Web Browsers
Internet Explorer does come pre-installed with all Windows machines - but this doesn't necessarily mean you have to use it! Because it is the most widely used browser, it is targeted by more malware writers, making you more susceptible to infection. There are many other free alternatives out there that offer better security, take one of these for a spin and see if it takes your fancy.
Mozilla Firefox
Google Chrome
Opera

WOT - Web of Trust, warns you about risky websites that try to scam visitors, deliver malware or send spam. Protect your computer against online threats by using WOT as your front-line layer of protection when browsing or searching in unfamiliar territory. WOT's color-coded icons show you ratings for 21 million websites, helping you avoid the dangerous sites:
Green to go
Yellow for caution
Red to stop
WOT has an addon available for both Firefox and Internet Explorer.

If you are too attached to leave Internet Explorer, follow these additional steps to make the browser more secure.
  • From within Internet Explorer click on the Tools menu and then click on Options.
  • Click once on the Security tab.
  • Click once on the Internet icon so it becomes highlighted.
  • Click once on the Custom Level button.
    • Change the Download signed ActiveX controls to Prompt.
    • Change the Download unsigned ActiveX controls to Disable.
    • Change the Initialise and script ActiveX controls not marked as safe to Disable.
    • Change the Installation of desktop items to Prompt.
    • Change the Launching programs and files in an IFRAME to Prompt.
    • Change the Navigate sub-frames across different domains to Prompt.
  • When all these settings have been made, click on the OK button.
  • If it prompts you as to whether or not you want to save the settings, press the Yes button.

Additional Security Measures
Keep your software up-to-date - You should be manually performing updates of your software once a week to ensure that you are current with anti-virus definitions and patched for any security vulnerabilities. This does not just apply to your anti-virus/anti-malware software; malware authors rely on exploiting commonly used software such as Java and Adobe Reader, which need to be kept up to date as well.

Keep Windows up-to-date - Use Windows Update regularly to stay current with security patches and service packs.

MVPS Hosts File - This custom hosts file effectively blocks a wide range of unwanted ads, banners, 3rd party Cookies, 3rd party page counters, web bugs, and many hijackers.

Firewalls - Without a firewall your computer is susceptible to being hacked and taken over. If you use the Windows Firewall you might think that's sufficient - but it only controls one way of the traffic (inbound). Simply using a Firewall in its default configuration can lower your risk greatly.

What Not To Do
The Perils of P2P File Sharing - Even if a P2P application is on the 'safe' list, malware can still be downloaded through infected files - executables, zip files and even MP3s. It is just not worth the risk.

Fake Security/Optimization Software - Be very wary with any security software that is advertised in popups or in other ways. They are not only usually of no use, but often have malware in them.
