Hello.
I've logged onto my computer, and cannot locate my c nor cd/dvd drive.
Funny thing is, I can access the drives through explorer just fine.
BUT. When I click under my computer, no drives are there, but only the folders saying shared documents, or [insert username here]'s documents.
Is there anyway to unhide them under my computer?
P.S. As well under the start menu, the run command is no longer there.

Hi,

When you have My Computer open.
Click tools from the top menu items then folder options.
Click restore defaults under the general and view tabs.

Did that work?

Someone has to intentionally hide these drives for them to not show up. Which is a registry setting. And I'm not qualified to walk you through that.

Are you the administrator of this computer or someone else?

If it's a malware problem then run the programs suggested there and it will find it most of the time.

Run these programs on full scan, they may take a while to run.

Please follow these steps in the written order, checking the computer after each one:

1: Restore the computer to a date prior to the occurrence of the problem.

2: Use XP installation CD of the same version installed. Click Start > Run. Type sfc scannow (note the space in the command) and press Enter. Let the process run to the end, at which the dialog box disappears.

3: Run XP repair. Use the link in my list below to G2G's repair guide. Please note that repair is a serious procedure that fails sometimes and can cause worse problem then you started with. Backup your data before taking such a drastic action.

QUOTE
Click Start > Run. Type sfc scannow (note the space in the command) and press Enter.

Yes, you are right. Sorry for not noticing that you mentioned that Run is missing. Did you try both Restore and XP repair? non helped?

Just to add, but you can hit the Windows Key + R to open up the Run command window.
