CD/E: Drive Just stopped working suddenly!

Was using Windows Media player alot; burning cds without any problems. Then, suddenly I attempted to burn a cd and a message popped up saying...Connect a burner and restart!.....?????? WHat could have happened? Also, even when I place a cd in the drive, it doesn't work at all! PLEASE HELP ME!!!! I am EXHAUSTED!! surrender.gif

I am having this same problem, too. Drive not recognized in "My computer" and device manager shows driver installed, but configuration information incomplete or damaged, so unable to run hardware.

Drive is a Sony CRX835E...last used about a month ago, maybe.

Computer bought in 2005, upgraded to Vista in Jan 08.

go into device manager and uninstall device. then reboot system. if it is still unable to install drivers then I would recomend installing a new drive.

Follow starjax's intrustructions. If this doesn't work, try finding the drivers from your manufacturer and re-installing them
