I like, or at least use to, going to the MajorGeeks download site but have not been able to access the site lately.
Can someone try it and see if it's me or they are down.

MajorGeeks is online and working fine in Ohio.

Didn't have any problems either. You may have hit a time with a server update or offline. Are you still having problems accessing site?

Yep! Still can not connect. FireFox comes back and says it can not find the server www.majorgeeks.com/
This has been going on for awhile now. Very strange.

Try adding majorgeeks.com to the Allow sites for Firefox. Also, check the blacklist in Firefox and see if by chance the site got put on there.

Not sure where the black list is located in FireFox. The only place I found that would aliow me to allow anything was in options - security and it had to do with allowing add-ons.

I should have mentioned that I can not access majorgeeks using Internet Explorer or Mozilla browsers either.

Since both IE and FF are experiencing same problem, it may not have any thing to do with the blacklist used by FF (Content tab entries). Do you have security software that is running? They also use a blacklist which MajorGeeks.com might have fallen prey to. You might try downloading Maxthon browser, Opera or Netscape and see if you have the same problem with those.

Certainly hope the IP has not been blocked by your service.

Opera comes back with can not locate remote server.
I have Zone Alarm firewall running and I do not see anywhere in there that would block a WEB site.

I checked the host file and found 127.0.0.1 majorgeeks.us.intellitxt.com
I took it out but I still get the can not locate server. Should I put it back in?

Any blocking of an IP by ZA will be under the Alerts and Logs section. Select Log Viewer tab and then Alert Type: Firewall.

The URL (majorgeeks.us.intellitxt.com), if entered in my browser, redirects me to a page that says, "Redirecting to http://www.vibrantmedia.com/" (IP - 62.32.97.9).

This URL, http://majorgeeks.com/, gets me right to the site with no redirects. The IP is 208.101.7.150.

127.0.0.1 is a loop back adapter and you should find this in the Firewall section under the Zones tab. Mine is set for the Trusted zone. Not sure if this info will help, but at least you can look through ZA and see if the IP got blocked. This would affect all browsers then.

Major thank you for the time and effort helping me solve this problem.
I see nothing in ZA that would block access to majorGeeks.
I used the 208.101.7.150 in the address line and I went right to MajorGeeks. Any reason
why the IP would work and not the www address?
I bookmarked MajorGeeks and the new bookmark gets me to the site. Is it possible that my
bookmark list had an error in it for MG?

It is highly possible the bookmark in question is corrupted. Especially if the bookmark is using "127.0.0.1 majorgeeks.us.intellitxt.com" as the link. Just delete the old one and continue using the new one since it works ok now. I didn't like the redirect I was getting. Glad FF has sense enough to stop and let me know.

Glad you are finally able to get to MajorGeeks.com. A good site.

I've been having the same problem. I used a friends computer and was able to access the website. I am glad I found this post. I am going to give it a try. By the way, i didn't have the website in my bookmarks or favorites, I just type the web address in.
