Can i use the host pc while Having a remote Desktop User on?

Hey guy Im David and am new to this forum anyhow i was hoping you can help me.

You see I have set up my pc with remote desktop to access it from my laptop while on the road and everytime i log on It knocks my Host Pc off and if my brother logs on the host pc it will knock my laptop off the user. Is there for both of us to be logged on at the same time under diffrent user names..
