Hey guy's I have a good one for you.....Well first off let me just say I have had my ISP Tech's try to help and I'll explain as I go.....
Ok ..I have a premium account for Megaupload file service....I have had this account for little over 3 month's....For the first 3 month's everything was fine , I just renewed my account for 3 more month's...everything still fine for about a week...Now for some reason I can not access the site useing www.megaupload.com.......I can access it useing just about anything else...such as ww. w. wwww. or just megaupload.com.....I also can access it from thier IP address 69.5.88.207...I decided to search the problem to see if anyone else was experiencing it also....Turn's out alot of people useing Frontier ISP has the same thing going on....So I went on live chat tech service with a Frontier Tech. He remotely controled my pc and checked it out....He thought it was wierd to ...He tried to access it from the office and he couldn't connect at first either...then another tech that was there decided to check on another pc and modem and he could connect....afterward's the first tech said no problem , We would have to flush the dns and clear my cache....I already did this but agreed to let him do his thing he tried all sort's of jazz...Nothing worked...He found it odd that I could connect in other way's but not by www. He told me to call the phone help line so he could reset my modem/router....So I called in and a woman tech guided me thru this....(Even though I had already done this too..)didn't work...She asked if I could just access it thru another method instead...I would do this however I can not utilize my premium status this way , Can't use any download or upload manager's(they all connect thru www.megaupload.com and I'm not sure if you can change that or even how to if you could.)I can use a proxy but don't really want to nor should I have to..I informed her of the other report's of people having the same issue . She said there must be a glitch that was on frontier's behalf and all I could do is report it and wait....I have also sent support email's to megaupload just incase it is on them and have not had any response yet.....I don't know if it is even possable for it to be megaupload's problem because only some people can't connect.... Please if anyone has any idea's please reply.....Thank you .... This post has been edited by jstaubs: Jul 1 2009, 04:00 PM |

try switching your dns to http://www.opendns.com/. this will rule out dns issues with your provider.
these type of file share services do not have a great track record and tend to be major distributors of illegal content, not to mention various other issues such as malware. I strongly encourage you to rethink your use of megaupload. Just for reference: our Terms of Service I sincerely hope that open dns resolves your issues. In general, they provide must more robust dns than most isp's. |

This did work.....so do you think it could be my isp throttling my bandwidth ? or would they block every ip known for the site ? Just wondering....or would openDNS even work if they did throttle my bandwidth...

not related to bw issues. just that they (isp's in general) don't always have the best dns service.

I have the same issue that arose about 5 days ago. "megaupload.com" works fine, but "www.megaupload.com" does not load. My ISP is Windstream. Is there any way to know if my ISP is blocking me? Or is this most likely a DNS related issue?

dns issue. both address's are the same. Today's web browsers will automatically append the www to address's that don't include them.
www.megaupload.com = megaupload.com Unless your isp flat out says they are filtering the site, you will never know. To be honest, the helpdesk jocky's probably will be the last people to know. That's how things work. Besides, if they were to actually block the web site, then it would be a black hole, not some random issue as described above. Hense the dns issue. |

Thanks for the reply. I'm not quite sure if megaupload.com = www.megaupload.com. The IP address of www.megaupload.com is 69.5.88.209 and the IP address of megaupload.com is 69.5.88.228.
