OS: Windows XP

When I boot up my laptop with the install disk it, it goes to the menu, and when i press enter to install xp, it says cannot find hard disk, and it only gives me one option f3=quit, so i went back to the desktop, and loaded the cd from there, i chose new installation not upgrade and in the middle of it i get a BSOD giving me no info as to why it did that. Maybe something is wrong with my hard drive? If using my cd is not an option I am hoping you guys can help me find a way to remove all my data and install windows xp professional, not OEM.

Thanks a million

EDIT: here is a sreenshot of the properties on my dvd drive, it looks defintely wrong, maybe i have to install drivers?
