For some reason when I go to download a file it dont always download, it gets to like 1kb then says its done when its not thats in ''FireFox'' in ''Avant Broswer'' which use the IE engine it says it cant download from this site or file cant be found'' but I know its there because I just uploaded it to test it out. Its not just happing on one site its happend on two sites so far.

Its gotta be a virus or something

The only things I can thing of what might have something to with this is the other day I tried ''FreeDownload Manager'' out but got rid. And I installed for ''FireFox'' was ''No-Script'' and ''AdBlock Plus'' but they were for ''FireFox'' so I dont know why that would affect ''Avant Browser'' so it could be ''Free Download Manager''. Anyway the log,

I said to follow the instructions on the "You must read this before posting an HJT..." and I don't think you did, looking at your log. I also suggested clearly stating the problem(s) AFTER a malware expert takes a look at your log.

You are running two antivirals: McAfee and AVG. Please get rid of one.

If that does not solve your problem, please disable the following programs to see if that may be causing the problems. You have a lot of stuff that tinkers with your machine that is supposed to make it more efficient and it may just be confusing it. I like to keep things simple. I have seen may people try to "get clean", "get more efficient" by adding excess program when they do not need the excess stuff.

C:\Program Files\SpywareGuard\sgmain.exe
C:\Program Files\Pixoria\Konfabulator\Konfabulator.exe

Run Hijack this and put check marks next to these:

O2 - BHO: Tensons.Application.DownloadAcceleratorManager.BHO - {00000003-1118-11da-8cd6-0800200c9888} - mscoree.dll (file missing)
O2 - BHO: (no name) - {206E52E0-D52E-11D4-AD54-0000E86C26F6} - C:\PROGRA~1\FRESHD~1\FRESHD~1\fdcatch.dll<<fresh download manager

O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [United Alerts] C:\Program Files\United Alerts\UnitedAlerts.exe<<is this a company computer?
O4 - Global Startup: BigFix.lnk = C:\Program Files\BigFix\BigFix.exe<<resource hog

O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {08B0E5C0-4FCB-11CF-AAA5-00401C608501} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll
O9 - Extra button: (no name) - {CD67F990-D8E9-11d2-98FE-00C0F0318AFE} - (no file)

O23 - Service: Remote Packet Capture Protocol v.0 (experimental) (rpcapd) - Unknown owner - %ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.exe" -d -f "%ProgramFiles%\WinPcap\rpcapd.ini (file missing)

Reboot and post a new log. FYI: You have a LOT of programs on start-up that you don't need.

Go to start>run and type in msconfig

Go to the start-up tab and research all the entries to see if they are necessary. Geeks to Go has an excellent resource list HERE

WOW your quick, anyway

My DAT's for virus's ran out on McAfee Virus Scan which is now disabled and thats why I have AVG installed only for virus's . But now I have McAfee Virus Scan disabled they dont confuse each other so i'am all good there.

UnitedAlerts is just a pop up thing which tells me about my lastest fottball club, like results and what not, so i'll keep that. Konfabulator, why would that be a problem ? it just add's nice little desktop features ?.

BigFix had that for ages whats it meant to do anyway, bit i'll probs remove that on your advice.

Oh and programs running on Start-Up I've wanting to know which ones are running and what not because I'am sure it cant take a PC 4 mins to load up can it ?.

I will post a fresh scan tommorow, as I really dont have time to reboot now :whistling: . Thx for the help so far.

The things that "can't hurt" don't hurt....they just slow you down. It's really just a choice of yours. Research the entries and see what you want to keep and what you don't want to keep. But the problems of not being able to download may be directly related to having all these things that "don't hurt."

you need to uninstall McAfee through your add/remove programs.

No, No, I dont need McAfee uninstalling It has my Firewall and everything, only the Virus Dats have gone, thats why I use AVG for my Virus Scan. AVG is not getting mixed up with McAfee because McAfee does not use any Virus protection anymore if you get me.

And thx for the advice I will 100% be disabling some start-up programs, I need my PC full speed and running at its best.

Will post log tommorow. :whistling:

You have McAfee Anti-viral running. It may have other things keeping you safe, but rest assured, the anti-viral appears to be running on start-up. Until that is sorted out, nothing will work correctly.

Hi,

I disable McAfee Virus Scan when it loads up, I cant and wont disable it altogether because it only needs the Virus Scan turning off. It may load up on boot, but I disable the Virus Scan when it loaded up. That why McAfee still uses the firewall and what not if I disable it at booting up it will turn off my Firewall and everything and that would be rather stupid, it only needs the Virus Scan disabled eveything else does not affect each other. AVG runs my Virus Scan as McAfee does not because I disable it AFTER boot up.

Right I have decided and gone through what I dont want loading up at boot up, with a few little questions at each side.

igfxtray.exe - Control Panel (Can I still excess CP ok by pressing the ''Start Menu'' button ?)

PDVDServ.exe -

nerocheck.exe - Checks for driver issues (What does this mean, like if there broke and do I really need it running ?)

HPWuSchd2.exe

hpcmpmgr.exe - Check internet for updated drivers/utilities for your HP product, (Is that not like the above though or do I need this running, )

DrgToDsc.exe

RxMon.exe -

Qttask.exe -

Realsched - (So only way to find if I have any messages in RP is to open it ? )

mnyexpr.exe

msmsgs.exe - Windows Messenger (Do I still need to go to Windows Messenger > Tools > Options > Preferences and uncheck "Run this program when Windows starts" as well ?)

fdm.exe - "Free Download Manager" ( I uninstalled this why is it still on my PC ?)

BigFix.exe

ePrompter.exe ( I use Yahoo, do I need it running ? )
