Cd drive not working

OS: windows me
When I try to burn a cd on it, it says E:\ not accessable. Incorrect function,I use xp and have search for solutions but none of them worked, I tried the properties and recording tab but it doesnt have a tab named recording and I dont have easy cd creater installed so I dont really know what the problem is, I ran the xp cd_dvd drive fixer before, could that have caused something?
