Certain web sites won't load after McAfee update

We have a Dell Dimension 8300 running XP SP2. We upgraded to the latest McAfee Security Center and now we can't get to MSN, McAfee and some other sites. We can get to Yahoo and Google. We did a system restore back a couple of days and could browse fine. Reinstalled the upgrade and got the same problem. Both the Windows and McAfee firewalls have been disabled, but this didn't help. I shall try uninstalling and reinstalling the software next, but was wondering if anyone had experienced similar problems and found a solution. I can't find anything useful on the McAfee site.
