I would like to connect my laptop to my TV, but I'm not sure what connector I need to do this. My laptop has a S-Video and VGA port, and the TV has 2 scart and 1 aerial 'holes' (what's the name for this?!) and something else but I don't know what it's called, but here's a picture of it: http://img169.imageshack.us/img169/2775/80164969ys3.jpg So yes, any help would be appreciated Clare |

Well most video cards come with a cable to connect the video output on your pc to your tv input. But since you bought a laptop pre-built I'd have to guess that it didn't come with one. You'd have to pick a choice as to what input you'd like to use on your tv. It's obvious that you would use the svideo output on your laptop to send the video to your tv. So the cable would have to have another end with the right connection you'd like to have. Most people usually buy a svideo to rca cable which can basically connect to the rca input on a tv or vcr. Anyways once you buy the right cable you'd have to just right click on your desktop and choose "properties", Than you'd have to go to the "Settings" tab, and choose the display list to pick a secondary display, than click the "Apply" button. This should give you the video on your tv right away. But you may have to restart your pc to see the signal on your pc. If it doesn't work than it just means your video card doesn't support a secondary display.
I'd also like to mention that this will not give you any audio on your tv just video. So if you'd like audio with the video you'd have to buy a separate audio cable which would most likely look like a headphone plug on one end [connects to your pc soundcard], and a single mono rca plug on the other [connects to your tv/vcr/etc]. Hope this bit of info helps. All you need is the right cable and your good to go! |
