Hello, I have a P4 2.8 with 1.5 Gigs of 400DDR Ram running XP. My second system is a P3 with 640 Megs of PC133 SD Ram running XP. They are connected by a Barricade G router. I have it setup that the P4 can see and copy files from the P3 through "My Network Places". I have set the sharing on the P3 to view AND change files though sharing. Here's the issue. Half of the time, I can transfer the files from the P3 to the P4 no problem. The other half of the time I get the "Cannot copy file. Access denied. Please make sure the file is not in use or protected blah, blah, blah." I have tried copying the file on the P3 to a different folder on the P3 hard drive and then switch to the P4 to pull it over but it still won't work. I am running AVG on both systems and no software firewall running on the P3. Just the router. This is a very new dilemma for me. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. There's another way to move files, a little old fashioned, but it may be easier and more reliable, and that is FTP. You can download a nice, free and very easy to configure FTP server here, also a client if you want to, and set it up on one of the machines. You can use the Windows FTP as client very well. I've used it to get around the headaches of networking with windows.

I back Czaria on this.... sounds like a security setting that you have enforced. Please read the link that Czaria as got for you.

Are you running windows XP Pro?
