Download the following file and unzip it to your desktop. Then doubleclick it and grant permission to merge the registry entries.

Good to see you're still hanging in there.

I'll see what I can find. It's in your Registry somewhere. Your log looks clean.

I post back asap.

I'm consulting my collegues about a possible solution.

I had to be sure (don't want to reck your computer now).

Go to "View"
scroll down to "Explorer bar"
scroll down and make sure "Folders" has a checkmark next to it.

(thanks to bananafanafo for this tip)

Does this help?

It's not the same as before. It was like a blueish task colomn. The one with the dog animation when you search for files. I can't explain it, but this will do for now. I'm just trying to figure out why my comp has been so slow the past couple of days. Could it be because of all the new programs I have installed? Or is it because of something else?
Note: I haven't downloaded anything and when i run msconfig the things i unchecked show up. Also when i restart, when the desktop is loaded a promp comes up saying ive changed some settings and something about normal startup. I press ok then msconfig comes up. I currently have msconfig on selective startup because all the things i unchecked before were those 3 random letter file exe's. Also the "ntddetect" and "payday".
I'm going to scan tonight with ad-aware, see what comes up.

You may also want to cleanup a bit:
1. Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
2. Click Performance and Maintenance.
3. Click Free up space on your hard disk.

The Disk Cleanup dialog box appears.
4. On the Disk Cleanup tab, select the following check boxes:
* Downloaded Program Files
* Temporary Internet Files
* Temporary Files
* Temporary Offline Files
* Offline Files
5. Click OK to delete the files from these locations.
6. When prompted, click Yes start the disk cleanup.

When you're done, defragment the disk.

Those items you unchecked in msconfig need to go to.

You have the Microsoft® Windows® AntiSpyware (Beta) installed, right-click the Windows AntiSpyware icon in the taskbar notification area and click "Shutdown Microsoft AntiSpyware". Also, disable Norton while doing this.

To clear the disabled items from your MS Config, please download this file.

Double click it and let it run.

Reboot the computer.

So you want the dog back?

Go to "View" - then "Explorer Bar", then make sure "Search" has a checkmark next to it and you'll get the dog back.
