Hi guys, I'm not sure what's going on with my computer exactly, but last night, I was running a program with crashed. A window popped up saying "Dr. Watson Post Mortem Debugger Has Encountered A Problem And Needs To Close." My computer and internet has been running slowly than normal. In addition, when I turn on my laptop, the bluetooth turns off. I don't know if this is related to the problem. I researched a bit on the internet and many people with the same problem used HiJackThis, so below is my log. I'm not sure if the problem is malware. If anyone has an idea on how to fix it, any at all, I'm welcome to it. Thanks for the help!
No logs outside the malware forum please |

First thing let's get a look at your system. Please follow the next steps in order and reply with the requested information.
We can then decide if it is a malware issue or something hardware or software related. Download Autoruns from the link in my signature below: 1: Extract the Autoruns Zip file contents to a folder. 2: Double-click the "Autoruns.exe". 3: Click on the "Everything" tab 4: Remove any entries that mention "File Not Found" by right-clicking the entry and select Delete. 5: Go to File then to Export As. 6: Save AutoRuns.txt file to know location. 7: Attach to your next reply. Download and install EVEREST Open it. 1: In left pane expand Computer folder. 2: Click once on Summary 3: In upper menu, go Report 4: And then to Quick Report-Summary 5: Save it in text file, and paste it in your next post. DO NOT INCLUDE ANYTHING UNDER THE LINE THAT SAYS "DEBUG- PCI" |

Hey rshaffer61, I want to thank you for taking the time to look into my problem and help me. I ran both the autoruns and everest. Hopefully I did it right and they are useful to you. Thanks!

First of all let's drop some of the autorun programs that really are not needed. These are my suggestions. Please follow the steps in order and when done let me know what you have for results.
Download Auslogics Defrag from the link in my signature below. Auslogics Defrag in my opinion is better because: It does a more comprehensive job at Defragging It will actually show you what it is doing At the end of working it will show you how much speed you picked up You can view a online log of the files that Auslogics defragged Open Autoruns, click on "Logon" tab, and UN-check: + AVG8_TRAY AVG Tray Monitor (you have two AV's running. AVG is a resource hog. Avast will do the job by itself) + DVDLauncher + FaxCenterServer Fax Man Server (If this is not needed to run at startup) + iTunesHelper + lxczbmgr.exe (Lexmark Printer does not need to autorun) + Norton Ghost 10.0 (not needed to autostart) When done restart computer and then: Download Temp File Cleaner (TFC) Double click on TFC.exe to run the program. Click on Start button to begin cleaning process. TFC will close all running programs, and it may ask you to restart computer. Now run Auslogics Defrag Reboot and let me know what your results are. When back in windows please do the following and reply back with information: Lets take a look at the hard drive and see what you have. Go to 1: Start 2: My Computer 3: Right Click on "C" drive 4: Click on Properties 5: In this field it will tell you total drive space and also free space Push and hold the Windows key on keyboard. This is the one with the Microsft windows logo on it. While holding Win key down click on the Pause\Break key This should open the System properties window On this window it will show System info: Microsoft Windows: type and version Service Pack number Registered Name Register Number Computer: CPU type Memory I need all the above info in your next reply Except for Register name and number. This is private and we don't need to know this information |

I've done all that you asked me to. What I noticed after I rebooted was first that my bluetooth didn't turn on (there's a bluetooth icon on my keyboard that lights up when its on, normally it lights up during start up, but it doesnt happen). In addition, after I logged in to my username, it took 2-3 minutes (just saw my wallpaper) until I saw the start menu and icons on the desktop popped up. And also, when I clicked on a program, it takes a long while until it opens and pops up. These are things I notice and I dont think they are normal unless it is. The laptop at times is running smoothly probably due to defrag.
This is the information that you wanted: System info: Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition Version 2002 Service Pack 3 Dell Inspiron I6400 Genuine Intel® CPU T2400 @ 1.83 GHz 1.83 GHz, 1.00 GB of RAM This post has been edited by sunnie5: Jun 16 2009, 12:17 AM |
